The Carlstadt Fire Department is deeply grateful to the Robert E. & Marie Orr Smith Foundation for their generous donation supporting our museum.

Thanks to their commitment, our antique hand‑pumper will be preserved and displayed for the community to enjoy — a reminder of where we started and how far we’ve come.

A special thank‑you to Bobby “O”, trustee of the foundation and former CFD member, for continuing to support the department he once proudly served. His connection to Carlstadt’s fire service remains strong, and we are honored by his contribution.

Thank you for helping us keep our history alive.

On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we pause as a community to remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the strength that carried our nation forward.

The effects of that day continue to shape families, responders, and communities across the country.

We honor those still living with its impact — from health challenges to the quiet, daily weight of grief and memory.

Today, Carlstadt stands united in remembrance, gratitude, and hope.

May we continue to support one another, serve one another, and keep the spirit of unity alive.

We remember. We honor. We stand together.

While investigating an odor of smoke in a nearby garage, units were alerted to smoke showing from the roof of the Iglesia Bautista Hispana Church. Units quickly extinguished the fire, limiting damage to the church.

The fire remains under investigation.

On Memorial Day, our community stands together in remembrance.
In Carlstadt, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives for our nation, and we hold especially close the memory of LCPL Michael A. Schwarz. His sacrifice is part of who we are as a town—woven into our traditions, our values, and the way we teach the next generation what service truly means.

The Carlstadt Fire Department joins our neighbors, families, and friends in reflecting on the purpose of this day:
To remember the fallen.
To speak their names.
To ensure their legacy lives on through us.

Today, we honor Michael, and all those who never returned home.
