🧁 Celebrate National Dessert Day Safely! 🧁

October 14 is National Dessert Day, and while we love a good sweet treat, safety in the kitchen is always the most important ingredient! Whether you’re whipping up cookies, baking a cake, or trying a new recipe, keep these quick baking safety tips in mind:

• Stay in the kitchen: Never leave food baking unattended.
• Set a timer: Use a timer to remind yourself to check on your food.
• Use oven mitts: Protect your hands from hot pans and surfaces.
• Keep it clear: Keep ovens, stovetops, and countertops free of flammable items like towels, paper, and packaging.
• Ensure good ventilation: Keep your kitchen well-ventilated to reduce smoke and odors.
• Create a kid/pet-free zone: Keep children and pets at least 3 feet away from cooking areas.

Sweet treats are better when they’re safe!

🚑 TWO WEEKS AWAY!!!!!!!
**PREHOSPITAL CPR SAVES LIVES — AND YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!** ❤️
When someone goes into cardiac arrest, every second matters. CPR begins the chain of survival **before an ambulance arrives and before a patient ever reaches the hospital**.
Early, high-quality CPR helps keep blood flowing to the brain and other vital organs, buying precious time until an AED and advanced medical care are available. You don’t have to be an EMT, firefighter, nurse, or doctor to help save a life — **you just need to know what to do.**
That’s why the **Lake Carmel Fire Department is hosting a Community CPR Class!**
📅 **Sunday, October 25, 2026**
⏰ **9:00 AM – 1:00 PM**
📍 **Lake Carmel Fire Department**
This hands-on class is open to everyone — **no previous experience is needed!**
Participants will learn:
❤️ Adult, Child & Infant CPR
⚡ How to use an AED
🫁 How to respond to choking
🚨 Essential emergency action steps
Cardiac arrest can happen anywhere — at home, at work, at school, at a sporting event, or out in the community. The person who needs CPR could be a friend, neighbor, coworker, or someone you love.
**Be prepared to act when it matters most.**
👉 **Register here:**

⚠️ **Space is limited, so don't wait to register!**
Help us build a community where more people are prepared to step in, start CPR, and help save a life.
**CPR buys time. CPR saves lives. ❤️**
Tag a friend, family member, or neighbor who should take the class with you!

💚 WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 💚

Today, October 10th, the Lake Carmel Fire Department recognizes World Mental Health Day and the importance of taking care of our mental well-being just as we do our physical health.

Take a moment today to check in — with yourself, a friend, a family member, a coworker, or a fellow first responder. Sometimes a simple conversation can make a meaningful difference.

💚 Check in on those around you
💬 Don't be afraid to talk about how you're feeling
🤝 Reach out when you need support
❤️ Remember that you don't have to face difficult times alone

Mental health matters every day, and looking out for one another helps build a stronger, healthier community.

Strong minds build stronger communities.

🚒🔥 **FIRE PREVENTION WEEK AT KENT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!** 🔥🚒

On Monday, October 5th, members of the **Lake Carmel Fire Department** had the pleasure of visiting **Kent Elementary School** to share important fire prevention and safety lessons with students! 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒

Our firefighters spent time showing students our fire apparatus, explaining the tools and equipment we use, and demonstrating what firefighters look like when wearing their full protective gear! 🚒🧑‍🚒

One of the most important parts of fire prevention education is helping children understand that **firefighters are there to help, even when they're wearing masks and protective equipment!** ❤️

🔥 **Fire safety starts at a young age!** We encourage families to continue these conversations at home by practicing fire escape plans, checking smoke alarms, and reminding children what to do in an emergency.

A huge **THANK YOU to Kent Elementary School** for welcoming us! We loved seeing so many curious faces, answering questions, and sharing our passion for fire safety with the next generation.

❤️🚒 **Prevention Through Education — Keeping Our Community Safe, One Student at a Time!**

🔥 FIRE PREVENTION MONTH – WEEK 2 🔥

This week, the Lake Carmel Fire Department reminds everyone to charge devices safely.

📱💻 Rechargeable devices need room to release heat while charging.

Always charge devices on a hard, flat surface where heat can escape.
❌ Never charge devices on beds, couches or pillows
❌ Don't cover a device while it's charging
✅ Keep charging devices away from anything that can burn
✅ Keep exits and escape routes clear

Whether it's your phone, laptop, tablet or another rechargeable device, where you charge matters.

Charge smart. Charge safe. 🔋
