The countywide burn ban for White County has been lifted.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding while the burn ban was in effect. Please continue to use caution with any outdoor burning and always burn responsibly.

🇺🇸 REMEMBERING 9/11 🇺🇸

Today, White County Emergency Management Agency pauses to remember September 11, 2001 — a day that changed our nation forever.

We remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost, the families forever changed, and the countless first responders, military members, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage and selflessness.

We especially honor the 343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officers, and 8 EMS personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to the attacks.

As emergency responders, we understand the importance of being prepared, standing together, and answering the call when our communities need us most.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

❗️COUNTYWIDE BURN BAN – EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY❗️

Due to drought-like conditions, extremely dry vegetation and the risk of fires starting and spreading rapidly is elevated.

We are asking all residents to refrain from outdoor burning and to use extreme caution with anything that could create a spark or ignite dry vegetation.

Please help us prevent a fire before it starts and protect our homes, property, and communities.

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as they become available.

🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 Please come out in support for Cpl Thurman and his family as he finally gets to come home and get laid to rest.

Tomorrow’s the day we bring Cpl Jackie Thurman home. He will depart Honolulu, Hawaii around 1130pm local time tonight. His flight will land in Dallas before continuing on to St Louis where he is scheduled to land at around 245pm tomorrow.

After the Dignified transfer by the United States Army into our care we will bring Cpl Thurman back to Norris City.

We will travel across Interstate 64 and exit at the US 45 Mill Shoals/Fairfield ramp (Exit 110) and travel south on US 45 to Norris City.

We will post updates throughout the day on the procession and approximate time of arrival in Norris City for those wishing to pay their respects along the way.
