Big news for families! 📣

Enrollment for the 2027–28 school year opens earlier this year, on Monday, Nov. 2. This change gives families more time to plan for the upcoming school year.

Enrollment is for new students attending their neighborhood school, including incoming transitional kindergarten (TK) and kindergarten students. 🏫

Open Enrollment begins Dec. 7 and is a separate process for families interested in attending a San Juan Unified school outside their assigned neighborhood school. 📚

Let the robot battles begin! 🦾🤖

Students in Rio Americano High School's robotics Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway are putting their engineering, creativity and problem-solving skills to the test as they make their mark in competitive robotics!

This school year, students designed and built a robot that collects foam balls and launches them toward a target. In September, they tested their creation at Chezy Champs, a highly competitive robotics event in San Jose featuring 42 teams.

And their hard work paid off! The team finished eighth out of 42 teams in qualifying matches, earning a spot as an alliance captain in the playoffs! 🏆

Beyond the competition, students gained valuable experience collaborating on strategy, troubleshooting mechanical challenges and supporting one another under pressure.

Robotics is just one of many hands-on CTE opportunities available across San Juan Unified School District. This school year, 2,777 students are participating in 32 CTE pathways, exploring career interests and developing skills for their futures.

There's even more to celebrate from the 2025-26 school year:

✅ 561 students completed a CTE pathway.
✅ 412 students earned industry-recognized certifications through CTE programs.

Books, pumpkins, family time and lots of smiles! 📚🎃

Families from our early childhood education programs came together for the annual Fall Literacy Festival, an afternoon filled with fun activities, reading, family resources, snacks and plenty of fall fun. 🍂

From little readers exploring new stories to families enjoying time together, it was a wonderful reminder that big learning can start with small moments.

خانواده‌های برنامه‌های آموزش دوران کودکی در جشنوارۀ سالانۀ سوادآموزی خزان گرد هم آمدند و یک روز شاد و آموزنده را سپری کردند. این برنامه شامل کتاب‌خوانی، فعالیت‌های سرگرم‌کننده، منابع مفید برای خانواده‌ها، خوراکی‌های سبک و برنامه‌های شاد خزانی بود. 🍂

از کتاب‌خوانی کودکان تا لحظه‌های خوش خانواده‌ها در کنار هم، این برنامه نشان داد که یادگیری‌های بزرگ می‌تواند از لحظه‌های کوچک آغاز شود.

Learning new skills and building community! 🧵

Students and families in San Juan Unified’s American Indian Education Program gathered at San Juan High School for their first Sewing 101 workshop where they learned sewing basics while making pillows.

The workshop offered a welcoming space for students and families to learn, create and connect while preparing for future opportunities that celebrate culture and identity.

Experiences like these support San Juan Unified’s commitment to creating culturally responsive environments where all identities, perspectives and lived experiences are recognized, included and honored. ❤️

Los alumnos y las familias del Programa de Educación para Indígenas Americanos del Distrito Escolar Unificado de San Juan se reunieron en San Juan High School para asistir a su primer taller de «Costura 101», en el que aprendieron los fundamentos de la costura mientras confeccionaban cojines.

شاگردان و خانواده‌های اشتراک‌کننده در برنامه آموزش بومیان امریکا در حوزه تعلیمی سن هوان (American Indian Education Program)، برای نخستین کارگاه آموزش ابتدایی خیاطی در لیسه سن هوان گردهم آمدند. در این کارگاه، اشتراک‌کنندگان ضمن ساختن بالشت، با مهارت‌های ابتدایی خیاطی آشنا شدند.

این کارگاه فضایی گرم و صمیمی را برای شاگردان و خانواده‌ها فراهم کرد تا در کنار یکدیگر بیاموزند، خلاقیت خود را به کار بگیرند و ارتباطات بیشتری ایجاد کنند؛ و در عین حال برای فرصت‌های آینده‌ای که فرهنگ و هویت را گرامی می‌دارند، آماده شوند.

Building English skills, confidence and connections - one Saturday at a time! 📚

San Juan Unified School District's Saturday English Club brings together 80 newcomer students in grades 9 and 10 at Arcade Middle School to strengthen their English skills, connect with peers and build confidence in a welcoming learning environment.

Through six sessions, students practice English reading, writing, listening and speaking with support from bilingual teachers who speak their home languages, including Dari/Persian, Pashto, Russian and Spanish.

The program runs through Nov. 7 and reflects San Juan Unified School District's commitment to supporting students through extra English practice and bilingual instruction, helping them participate more confidently in class, succeed in school and work toward reclassification as fluent English proficient.

Desarrollando habilidades en inglés, confianza y conexiones: ¡un sábado a la vez! 📚
El Club de Inglés Sabatino del Distrito Escolar Unificado de San Juan reúne a 80 estudiantes recién llegados al país de noveno y décimo grado en Arcade Middle School para mejorar sus habilidades en inglés, relacionarse con otros estudiantes y desarrollar confianza en un ambiente de aprendizaje acogedor.

A lo largo de seis sesiones, los estudiantes practican la lectura, la escritura, la comprensión auditiva y la expresión oral en inglés con el apoyo de maestros bilingües que hablan sus idiomas nativos, incluyendo dari/persa, pastún, ruso y español.

El programa continúa hasta el 7 de noviembre y refleja el compromiso del Distrito Escolar Unificado de San Juan de apoyar a los estudiantes mediante la práctica adicional del inglés y la enseñanza bilingüe, ayudándolos a participar con mayor confianza en clase, tener éxito académico y avanzar hacia su reclasificación como estudiantes con dominio del inglés.

هر شنبه، فرصتی خوب برای تقویت زبان انگلیسی، افزایش اعتمادبه‌نفس و ایجاد ارتباطات دوستانه! 📚

برنامه زبان انگلیسی روزهای شنبه حوزه تعلیمی سن هوان، دانش‌آموز تازه‌وارد از صنف نهم و دهم را در مکتب متوسطه آرکید گرد هم می‌آورد تا مهارت‌های زبان انگلیسی خود را تقویت کنند، با دیگر دانش‌آموزان ارتباط برقرار کنند و در محیطی آموزشی و صمیمی، اعتمادبه‌نفس بیشتری به دست آورند.

در جریان این پروگرام، دانش‌آموزان با حمایت معلمان دوزبانه که به زبان‌های مادری آن‌ها، از جمله دری/فارسی، پشتو، روسی و اسپانیایی صحبت می‌کنند، چهار مهارت زبان انگلیسی شامل خواندن، نوشتن، شنیدن و صحبت کردن را تمرین می‌کنند.

A new halal-certified option is coming to San Juan Unified school lunch menus! 🍗

Beginning Oct. 13, halal-certified chicken tenders will be available at elementary and K-8 schools, giving students another choice at lunchtime.

The new option is part of the district’s ongoing work to provide meals that reflect the needs of San Juan Unified’s diverse student community.
