MEA had the pleasure of working alongside this awesome group of Millington Community Schools paraprofessionals as they completed the Paraeducator Bootcamp professional development offered through the Michigan Association of Administrators of Special Education (MAASE).

These dedicated educators show up every day for students—supporting learning, building relationships, meeting individual needs, and doing so many of the things that help our schools run successfully. It was great to see them come together to learn, share, laugh, and strengthen the skills they bring back to their students and classrooms.

Investing in our paraprofessionals is an investment in our students.

So proud of this Millington crew for taking advantage of this opportunity and continuing to grow as professionals—and proud that MEA could be a part of it!

Happy Labor Day! Today, we celebrate the hard work, dedication, and solidarity of every worker who keeps our communities moving forward.

From winning the 40-hour workweek to fighting for fair wages, safe workplaces, and strong benefits, union members have always been the backbone of the labor movement. Today and every day, we stand proud, stand together, and continue the fight for a better future for all working families.

âšľ What an incredible night at our Annual MEA Baseball Game with the Great Lakes Loons! âšľ

This year’s event was our biggest ever, with 400 tickets sold to MEA members and their families! It was wonderful to see so many members from across the Northern Zone come together to enjoy a full meal, great company, and an exciting Great Lakes Loons game.

The spectacular fireworks after the game were the perfect ending to a fantastic evening! 🎆

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event such a tremendous success. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our generous sponsors—MESSA, the Michigan Education Association, and MEA Financial Services—for helping make this memorable night possible.

âš“ All Hands on Deck! âš“

We had a wonderful day at our 11-CDE Local Leader Retreat, working together to strengthen our locals, build leadership skills, and chart the course for the future of our union!

Throughout the retreat, local leaders shared ideas, built connections, and gained practical tools related to membership engagement, leadership development, communications, advocacy, negotiations, grievance handling, financial management, and local governance.

A special thank-you to our presenters, Roger Rothe and MEA Vice President Bob Callender, for sharing their time, knowledge, and experience with our leaders.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the thoughtful conversations and collaborative spirit of the day. Our locals are stronger because of leaders like you who are willing to learn, grow, and work together on behalf of our members! 💙⚓
