QuadCom would like to address some misunderstandings in the report quoted in this article. Despite the misunderstandings, misinformation, and half-truths raised during public comment at the Carpentersville meeting last Tuesday, the board voted unanimously to move forward with a five-year agreement with SEECOM.
- Cost Savings: These numbers are projected in anticipation of QuadCom having a 10% increase over the next five years. The five-year increases are estimates, not facts. SEECOM offered a five-year fixed rate that cut prices by almost 40% in the first two years. It is unclear how the center will recoup those costs, and its current agencies will continue to pay full price.
- Voting Rights: The 12.5% voting right is quoted as if Carpentersville has fewer rights. This is untrue. There are 8 QuadCom Board Members who all have the same 12.5% voting right. Carpentersville actually has more voting rights on the JETS board (15.8%) and Executive Committee (20%). They can propose and initiate change. The SEECOM agreement, which is attached to the meeting packet, clearly states they will have zero (0%) voting rights. This means they are giving up local control with the other center.
- Staffing Size: QuadCom serves a population of 68,000. SEECOM serves a population of 214,000. With a population 32% larger than QuadCom's, it is expected to have more staff.
- Box Alarms: MABAS Division 2 follows the Statewide Rules of MABAS. The information provided by Carpentersville makes it sound as if QuadCom is not serving Carpentersville during major events. This is untrue. QuadCom handles all local responses. It is common across the State that when a Mutual Aid Box Alarm is called for, which requires aid from villages and cities all across Northern Illinois, the backup Center handles the outside agencies while the primary center continues to handle the local requests. This allows QuadCom to focus more on our local agencies during their time of need.
- Community Impact: The impact to the community is being portrayed as "nothing changes". Police and fire will continue to respond from their dedicated stations, or, in the PD's case, their temporary station. HOWEVER, it does not mention that Carpenterville relies on assistance from East, West, and Rutland-Dundee, who will now be a phone call away instead of being dispatched simultaneously. It does not mention that the closest town that could help an officer struggling will also be a phone call away, instead of the instantaneous radio transmission.

QuadCom will professionally respect the Carpentersville Board's decision; however, we will not stand by and allow further half-truths to circulate about our professional capabilities, performance, and anticipated cost increases.

The Carpentersville Village Board this week OKโ€™d a contract with SEECOM to provide 911 emergency dispatch services for the village.

Scott's Law requires drivers to:
โš ๏ธYield the right-of-way to any authorized emergency vehicle displaying flashing lights.
โš ๏ธChange lanes if possible
โš ๏ธReduce your speed
โš ๏ธProceed with caution

This law applies to all authorized emergency vehicles, stationary or not, displaying flashing, oscillating lights, including first responder vehicles, tow trucks, and road repair vehicles. Drivers must also yield to any pedestrian directly involved in an emergency scene.
