Carrington Volunteer Fire and Rescue

10/09/2026

We had a great week celebrating Fire Prevention Week with the students at Carrington Elementary School. We gave tours to both Kindergarten classes of the fire hall and gave them rides back to school in the fire trucks. We also spent Thursday afternoon at the elementary school discussing fire safety and handing out promotional items to the students. We were also able to conduct an all campus fire drill at school which was conducted very well. We would like to thank Carrington Public School, Mrs. Helm, Mr. Weber and Mrs. Helseth for allowing us to come in and visit with the students and with all the coordination for the week’s activities.

I want to thank all the members of Carrington Volunteer Fire and Rescue for the quick response this morning for mutual aid in New Rockford for the apartment fire. Also, a great job to the New Rockford Fire Department for their quick response and attack on the fire. It could have been a way worse situation, but both departments worked well together and limited the damage as much as possible. Have a happy 4th of July everyone and stay safe! We will see you at the parade this afternoon at 5:00 pm in Carrington with community fireworks at dusk at the Foster County Fairgrounds.

Got to spend some time doing a little training that’s different from what we usually do. It’s always fun to get to help other organizations learn.

Nearly two years after a fiery train derailment near Carrington released hazardous materials and forced evacuations, federal investigators have determined the probable cause was a collapsed subgrade supporting the track structure.

Red Flag today. With all the burning that went on yesterday please check those burns often as it only takes an ember to get a fire going.
