Fire prevention week tip of the day.

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail.

Fire Prevention week safety tip of the day.

Stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or color, or if you see smoke. If it is safe, move the device away from anything that can catch fire. A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire.

On Saturday Sept 19 members of Carrollton Fire and IOW Fire and Rescue were able to utilize Carrisbrook pool to conduct MIRT training on our new Inmar Boat. Members trained on utilization of the boat with paddles, righting the boat if overturned, getting patients and or crew members into the boat, as well as other EMS and MIRT skills. Members of Suffolk Fire were also able to meet up with us for annual dry suit testing and then a pizza lunch and brotherhood. Thanks to Carrisbrooke community for the use of the pool and thank you to Suffolk Fire Rescue for coming out to participate with us!

20 YEARS β€” NEVER FORGOTTEN ❀️‍πŸ”₯

Today marks 20 years since we lost an amazing young man β€” a friend, a brother, a son, and a member of our fire department family.

John β€œJP” Memory gave his life in the line of duty, doing what he loved. He had an incredible love for his family, his brothers and sisters in the fire service, and of course, NASCAR! 🏁

JP had a smile and personality that were truly infectious. The moment he walked into a room, he had a way of lighting it up β€” just like a fire.

Twenty years have passed, but the memories remain. We remember the young man he was, the friendships he made, the lives he touched, and the passion he had for serving others.

Today, we miss you.
Today, we remember you.
Today, and every day, we will never forget you.

Rest easy, JP. Your service, your sacrifice, and your memory will live on forever. ❀️‍πŸ”₯
