National EMS Week is officially underway at West Georgia Ambulance. πŸš‘

This morning, our crews started their shifts with Chick-fil-A biscuits and fresh coffee as a small thank-you for the lifesaving work they do every day. β˜•πŸ”

And for the crew members who couldn’t make it by WGA headquarters, Director of Operations Amy Jerome hit the road to deliver breakfast straight to them. Because no matter where our teams are serving, we want them to know how appreciated they are.

Thank you to our EMS professionals for your dedication, compassion and commitment to caring for our communities 24/7.

Happy National EMS Week!

And that’s a wrap on this week’s Career Day events! πŸš‘

Community paramedics Alan Griffith and Judy Simpson wrapped up their second school visit of the week at Villa Rica Middle School, giving students a behind-the-scenes look at life in emergency medical services (EMS). From the training and certifications required to the realities of working in the field, they shared what makes a career in EMS both demanding and rewarding β€” while answering lots of thoughtful questions along the way.

We’re always grateful for opportunities to connect with students, share our passion for EMS and help inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Until next time! ✌🏻

West Georgia Ambulance loved being out in the community for several Touch-a-Truck events during the month of April. πŸš‘πŸ’™

We made stops at Central Middle School, Mount Zion Elementary, Tabernacle Baptist Preschool, Villa Rica Elementary and Bankhead Highway Chick-fil-A, connecting with kids and families at every turn.

A special shoutout to community paramedics Judy Simpson and Alan Griffith for representing our EMS team β€” sharing what they do, answering questions and letting attendees get an up-close look at the ambulance!

Moments like these remind us how important it is to build relationships and inspire the future generations of first responders.

🚨 Weekend Weather – Community Preparedness Notice β„οΈπŸŒ§οΈ

As severe winter weather is expected to move into our area this weekend, West Georgia Ambulance urges everyone to prepare now to stay safe and avoid preventable emergencies.

Please make sure you have:
πŸ’Š Enough medications to last through the weekend
🫁 Home oxygen tanks working properly and supplies fully stocked (including backup power for concentrators or extra tanks)
πŸ”₯ Safe ways to stay warm in case of power outages
πŸ“± Charged phones and emergency contacts ready

⚠️ IMPORTANT OXYGEN NOTICE ⚠️
In the event of hazardous road conditions or increased emergency demand, West Georgia Ambulance is unable to leave oxygen tanks or additional equipment at homes or facilities. All equipment must remain on our units to ensure continued emergency response.

Patients who are dependent on supplemental oxygen should plan ahead and stock up on the oxygen and supplies they need by coordinating with their home oxygen provider prior to the weekend.

🚧 Road conditions could be extremely dangerous due to wintry precipitation, including freezing rain or snow. If you do not absolutely need to travel, please stay off the roads. Hazardous conditions impact first responders just as they do the public.

Preparing now helps keep you safe and allows EMS crews to remain available for the most critical emergencies.

Please check on neighbors β€” especially the elderly and those with medical needs. ❀️

Stay in. Stay warm. Stay safe.

Visit tanner.org for updates on delayed openings, closings or other hospital-related weather announcements.

Cooler weather and shorter days can make driving more challenging this time of year. Rain, fog and early sunsets all affect visibility and reaction time on the road.

A little preparation goes a long way. Checking your tires and battery, keeping an emergency kit in your car and allowing extra time for travel can help you stay safe wherever the season takes you.
