Station 113 C-Shift recently received recognition from Texas Health for their outstanding patient care and teamwork.

The recognition stemmed from a call involving a patient who suffered a cardiac arrest. Through the crew’s quick actions and high-quality care, return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) was achieved prior to transport. Upon arrival at Texas Health Plano, the patient was rapidly transferred to the cardiac catheterization lab for advanced treatment.

This successful outcome highlights the seamless collaboration between Carrollton Fire Rescue EMS personnel and the emergency department team at Texas Health Plano. Working together, they made a meaningful difference in this patient’s life and exemplified the dedication and professionalism of all involved.

After more than 28 years of service to the citizens of Carrollton, Apparatus Operator/Paramedic Lynn Harpold is hanging up the uniform.

For nearly three decades, Lynn answered the call, responding to emergencies, mentoring firefighters, caring for patients, and helping shape Carrollton Fire Rescue into what it is today. The impact of a career like his can’t be measured in years alone, but in the countless lives touched along the way.

Today, we celebrate a remarkable career, a lasting legacy, and a well-earned retirement.

Congratulations, Lynn. Thank you for 28 years of dedication, professionalism, and service to this community. We wish you nothing but happiness in the next chapter.

This week, two members of Carrollton Fire Rescue attended the TEEX MGT-314 Enhanced All-Hazards Incident Management/Unified Command course. This training focused on strengthening leadership, communication, and coordination during complex emergency incidents through Unified Command and multi-agency collaboration. The course provided valuable hands-on discussions and scenario-based learning that will help enhance operational readiness and response capabilities for the Carrollton community.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Isaiah Hill-Perkins, Firefighter Jeff Wilbert, and Firefighter Noah Howard on graduating from Collin College Paramedic Program last week.

Their commitment to continuing their education and advancing their skills reflects the dedication our members bring to serving the Carrollton community every day. We’re proud of their hard work and look forward to the impact they’ll continue to make at Carrollton Fire Rescue.

Although Captain Mark Nussell officially retired in March, we want to take this opportunity to recognize and thank him for more than 26 years of dedicated service to Carrollton Fire Rescue and our community.

Since May 3, 1999, Captain Nussell has served with professionalism, leadership, and commitment, making a lasting impact on our department and those he served alongside.

Thank you, Captain Nussell, for your years of dedication and service. We wish you all the best in retirement.

The food was incredible, but even more meaningful is the partnership we share every day. Carrollton Fire Rescue held our 2025 Annual Awards Banquet last Saturday evening where we had the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments, dedication, and professionalism of our members. During the evening, we recognized service anniversaries, members completing probation, promotions, and our annual Of-the-Year award recipients.

As technology continues to evolve, so does emergency response. This week, members of Carrollton Fire Rescue attended the annual Electric Vehicle and Stored Energy Summit at Texas A&M, where fire service professionals, engineers and hazardous materials experts from across the country came together to share insights, lessons learned and emerging best practices related to EV and battery-related emergencies.

Training opportunities like these help ensure our personnel remain prepared to safely respond to the ever-changing challenges facing the fire service and the communities we serve.

Today, we celebrate the mothers who hold everything together, the ones who show up with strength, compassion, sacrifice, and unwavering love every single day.

To the moms in our Carrollton Police and Fire Rescue families, and to all mothers in our community: thank you for being our first heroes, our biggest supporters, and the heart behind so much of what we do. We know it’s not always easy, but you continue to do it all anyway, and for that, we are endlessly grateful.

Members of Carrollton Fire Rescue recently attended the annual FDIC International in Indianapolis, one of the largest firefighter training conferences in the world.

Representing CFR were Captain Stephen Cato, Battalion Chief Chad Leavitt, Battalion Chief Chris Caver, Battalion Chief Troy Redwine, Captain Justin Haisten, Apparatus Operator Jake Bruton, Apparatus Operator Rodney Pyle, and Firefighter Brent Dirks.

Opportunities like FDIC allow our personnel to train alongside fire service professionals from across the country, bringing back valuable knowledge, skills, and ideas that help us continue providing the highest level of service to the Carrollton community. We’re proud of their commitment to learning and professional development.
