Nevada Division of Insurance Our mission: Protect the rights of Nevada consumers in their experiences with the insurance industry.

The Consumer Services Section of the Nevada Division of Insurance handles all requests for consumer assistance. We can help you understand your policy and answer any questions you might have regarding claims or companies. We urge all consumers who are having trouble to first try to resolve any problems with their insurance company or agent. If however, such attempts are unsuccessful, we invite consumers to submit a formal Complaint, and one of our staff members will be happy to act as a liaison, working with the consumer and their insurance company or agent to try and resolve the problem.

Drop, Cover and Hold on! The Nevada Division of Insurance is participating in the World’s Biggest Earthquake drill today. People across the state are practicing how to safely handle an earthquake. The Silver State ranks 3rd in the U.S. for major earthquakes (magnitude 5.0 or higher).
Consumers should keep in mind that earthquake damage is generally not covered under a standard homeowner’s, renters, or condo policy. Earthquake coverage is offered separately. Nevada has faults in almost every part of the state, which is why Commissioner Gaines recommends seeking coverage because consumers could face hefty out of pocket costs for repairs.
