LA County Library has partnered with Animal Care & Control to host pet adoptions in celebration of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month! The event at the Carson Library will be held this Fri, Oct 16, from 2 pm - 5 pm. Attend the adoption clinic and if you read a book to any dog, you'll have your adoption fee waived, including spay/neuter and microchip. There's a license fee of $20 for all pets, but seniors pay only $7.50 and it is free for military (bring your ID!) Must be at least 18 years old and provide a current photo ID with proof of your current LA County address. CHILDREN'S PROGRAM: Explore the Strength of Spider Webs
Wednesday, October 21, 2026, 4:00 pm

Learn about the biology and engineering behind spider silk, the way spiders use their webs to catch prey, and the different types of webs that exist in nature. Afterwards, you'll create a spider web themed craft to take home! For ages 5 – 11 with a parent or caregiver.

Printmaking Workshop for Teens
Tuesday, October 13, 2026, 4:00 pm

Try your hand at printmaking with an introduction to dry-point etching and learn a bit about this centuries-old art form. We’ll carve images onto acrylic plates, then use them to create prints in various colors from a single design. For ages 13 – 17.

This program is part of LA County Library's My Brother's Keeper program and features an MBK Peer Advocate as a co-host and youth mentor. This program is funded in part by the Uchenna Nwosu Foundation.

Parents and guardians: Please be aware that refreshments will be served at this program. A list of ingredients will be available.
