🚨 TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT HISTORIC PRESERVATION 🚨
The Etowah Valley Historical Society encourages our members and friends to join The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation in speaking out for the protection of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
Section 106 helps ensure that historic places, archaeological resources, and community landmarks are considered before federal projects move forward. It also protects the public's right to have a voice in preservation decisions.
Please take a few minutes to contact Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock and urge them to support and protect the Section 106 review process.
Every letter, email, and phone call helps reinforce the importance of preserving Georgia's historic places and the stories they tell.
🚨 TAKE ACTION: Tell Congress to Protect Section 106!
One of our nation's most important historic preservation protections is under threat.
For 60 years, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act has given communities a voice in federal decisions affecting historic places. But proposed legislation in Congress - the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act (S. 5653) - will eviscerate these protections, limit public participation, and put historic and cultural resources at greater risk from federal actions.
📣 We need preservation advocates across Georgia to speak up!
Contact Sen. Ossoff and Sen. Warnock before November 9th and urge them to oppose provisions that would undermine Georgia's historic places. Contact your representative, too, but the Senate will vote first.
