In the grand order of the universe, our Creator has wisely chosen men and women to serve in every era. Such a servant was Martin Luther King, Jr., whose life we commemorate. We are thankful for the contributions of this 20th century prophet of freedom, who joined the prophets of history in the cry, "Let Freedom Ring."
MLK, Jr. Task Force of Cary-Cary, NC
Who We AreThe Martin Luther King, Jr.
The weekend of events provides opportunity to highlight and reflect of the values Dr. King taught, through example, show of courage, truth, justice, compassion, dignity, humility and service
Today we need the leadership of commitment from the young, from the middle-aged, from the legislators, from the clergy, from the invisible choir of saints who live in the minds made better by their presence.

I won't have any money to leave behind. I won't have the fine and luxurious things of life to leave behind. BUT I just want to leave a Committed Life Behind. By: Martin Luther King, Jr. What an example to follow...
What happened during the Civil Rights Movement? In the United States, mass movement starting in the late 1950's broke the pattern of racially segregated public facilities in the South and achieved the most important breakthrough in equal-rights legislation for blacks since the Reconstruction period (1865-77).
If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door...🙂
For the price of a cup of coffee, YOU can provide a meal for someone at the Durham Rescue Mission. That's a full meal of baked ham or turkey, along with string beans, corn, dressing, plus a dessert and lemonade - all for $2.05. With YOUR help, the Thanksgiving season can become a time of celebration instead of one more holiday of someone being alone and hungry. Please consider providing a meal Donate online at DurhamRescueMission.org Thank YOU!🙂

Dear Brothers and Sisters of the North America Southeast Area,
As an Area Presidency, ours is a message of hope, support, and love. Our hearts ache for those of you who have lost so much and have had your lives disrupted. We want you to know that we love you and are prepared to assist you as you rebuild your lives. Now is the time, regardless of religious affiliation, that we reach out to all our brothers and sisters and lift and strengthen them as the Savior taught.
The First Presidency, Quorum of the Twelve, and we as an Area Presidency love and are concerned for you. Along with many at Church headquarters, we have monitored and will continue to receive updates on the conditions of the Saints and those most affected by this storm.
We are indeed grateful to the local leaders of the Church at all levels who have been working tirelessly to organize and prepare for those who will come to render aid and assistance.
We are concerned for the safety, health, and well-being of all who have suffered terrible losses from this storm. In preparation for Florence’s arrival, hundreds of tons of food and supplies had already been sent to the area for those in need. These needs will continue to be monitored, and we will provide additional support and supplies as needed.
Please also know that thousands of your brothers and sisters in the gospel from outside the storm’s path will be lending helping hands to you and your neighbors over the coming days and weeks. We pray for your recovery and know that our Heavenly Father will always be with you to help, comfort, and guide you.
May God bless you and direct you as you recover from this life-disrupting event. Hold to the gospel, hold to your families, hold to the Savior, Jesus Christ. These are the things that are eternal; these are the things that really matter.
With great love and support,
Claudio R. M. Costa
