This spring, Cary Sister Cities hosted a delegation of culinary students from our sister city, Le Touquet, France. During their three-week stay, the students studied under chefs at Maximillians, Dram and Draught, Vino on Tap, Peck and Plume, and Herons.
During their trip, they also had the opportunity to meet the Mayor, attend a Town Council, swim at the Outerbanks, visit the Natural Sciences Museum, tour Downtown Cary with the Sister Cities Youth Organization, and stroll through Duke Gardens.
Missed the opportunity to meet with the group? Luckily, we have another youth delegation coming in July! Check out our website to find out how you can become a member or volunteer! (link in bio)

On Monday, Margie and Will Hennessee graciously welcomed our French exchange students into the kitchen at Maximillians, where the students prepared and served a delicious three course meal to conclude their three week stay in Cary.
The evening brought together participating host restaurants including Maximillians, Dram and Draught, Vino on Tap, Peck and Plume, and Herons, along with host families, the Mayor, Cary Town Council members, and the Executive Board of Cary Sister Cities. Swipe to take a look at the courses 🍽️👀
Thank you to everyone who helped make this exchange such a meaningful cultural and culinary experience for these students and our community. 🇺🇸🇫🇷

French culinary students gathered last night at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center before being formally recognized by the Cary Town Council. Council Woman Michelle Craig, Cary Sister Cities council liaison, introduced the group to council members, and three students shared thoughtful remarks. A special moment celebrating culture, connection, and the impact of international exchange 🇫🇷

🌸 Bloom & Zoom 5K Walk/Run
📅 Saturday, May 9 — the day before Mother’s Day
📍 Cary, NC - WakeMed Soccer Park - 8AM
This is more than a race. It’s a morning of movement, music, community, and sunshine — open to every age, every pace, and every kind of family. Walk with a stroller. Participate virtually. Jog with your crew. Run solo. However you show up, you belong here.
After you cross the finish line, stay and enjoy free giveaways, collect your custom made medal, local vendors, live music, and great company.
And here’s what makes every step especially meaningful: a portion of your registration fee goes directly to Cary Sister Cities to support youth leadership programs, local community events, and student exchanges that send young people across oceans and cultures — and bring the world right back here to Cary. When we move together locally, we make a difference globally.

We’re excited to partner with the United States-Japan Foundation to announce the first recipients of the U.S.-Japan Global Impact Grant: Buffalo/Kanazawa and Broomfield/Ueda. Their upcoming projects will tackle important local challenges through bird conservation efforts and creative approaches to reduce municipal waste. We can’t wait to see the impact of their work!
