Planting for pollinators is an essential aspect to urban agriculture, and Cary is blooming with biodiversity.

As we slip into summer, community gardens town-wide begin to blossom, attracting birds, bees, and butterflies to facilities like Downtown Cary Park and Good Hope Farm. By including native plantings, soil amendments, and other ecosystem support strategies, we're helping grow a greener Cary and a more sustainable future.

Dig in and learn more about our various garden programs by visiting carync.gov/gardens.

Wondering whooooooo-whooooo is hooting at you in the evenings? 🦉🌙✨

Check out some fascinating facts about owls from the Friends of Hemlock Bluffs in the post below and then head over to the Natural Resources section of carync.gov/green to explore our various nature programs being offered this summer.

Barred owls are actively hunting now to feed themselves, and in many cases, young owls. A good time to spot them at Hemlock Bluffs is in the evening close to closing time. Sign up to join staff for night hikes this year! 🦉

We're helping our community be water-wise with rainwater harvesting! 🌧️ In fact, 262 new rain barrels were purchased through our annual online sale.

These units help manage smaller volumes of rooftop runoff by capturing rainwater that can later be reused for landscaping.

The bins are in!🎉

Thanks to our eco-conscious community members, 131 new compost bins are being distributed this month from our annual online sale.

These units will convert food scraps from kitchens across town, helping grow gardens instead of sending them to landfills.

Don't worry if you missed us; our friends at Wake County Waste and Recycling are hosting their own compost bin sale through May 31.
