Great reminder from Cary Animal Services!

Every year, we post this reminder about the dangers of leaving your dog in the car. Let this serve as a sober reminder of what really can happen. Animals can, and do, die in cars every year. PLEASE....leave your dogs home if the temperature is above 70 degrees.
**REMEMBER** 7-0 and they dont go!

Hey Cary,
We know you love your dog. We know your dog loves car rides. We know you have errands to run and you want to take your dog with you. But on warm, sunny days, your dog needs to stay at home. Heat is dangerous for your dog…even for just a few minutes, even if you park in the shade, even if you leave the windows cracked, even if you leave the sunroof open, even if…. We answer call after call on hot days about dogs being left in cars. Heat can be deadly in just minutes.

If someone sees your dog alone in a car, chances are good they will call us. They are concerned about your dog. We are too. We know you don’t want to see us at your car. We don’t want to be at your car. But you really don’t want us to tell you that something tragic has happened to your dog. It does happen. So PLEASE leave your dogs at home and not in your car while you run inside the store. You can take your dog out for a ride later when temps have cooled and you can be with them for an air-conditioned joy ride. We want your dog healthy and happy because we love animals. Your dog included!
Love,
Your Cary Animal Services Officers

E-Bike Safety

The Cary Police Department continues to address the unsafe and unlawful operation of e-bikes and e-motorcycles within our community.

Riders are reminded that some e-bikes are classified as motorcycles under North Carolina law. These vehicles require proper registration, insurance, and a valid motorcycle license for lawful operation on public roadways.

Operators of e-bikes and e-motorcycles who do not comply with North Carolina state law and local ordinances may be subject to citations, criminal charges, and vehicle impoundment.

Fraud Alert

We are seeing an increase in scammers sending fake fraud alerts by text message and phone calls, convincing victims to withdraw cash and hand it to a third party.

REMEMBER:
Banks and law enforcement agencies will never ask you to withdraw cash or give money to someone.

If you receive a suspicious message:
Don't reply
Don't click links
Call your bank directly

Be vigilant and always question and verify.

TST Action Continues

As action on the pitch heads into the final weekend of competition, crowds and spectators are expected to increase. Unless you are planning to attend the festivities, motorists should avoid the area around WakeMed Soccer Park.

No road closures are expected; drivers should anticipate delays on E. Chatham St, Maynard Rd, Trinity Rd, and Cary Towne Blvd near the soccer park. Allow extra time for travel, stay alert, and follow posted traffic signs and directions from traffic personnel.

For match schedules and more information on TST, visit: https://tst7v7.com/

In the spirit of National Police Week, we at the Cary Police Department wanted to take the time to highlight a huge asset to our department and goodest of boys, K9 Nuke!

K9 Nuke is a 4-year-old English Labrador Retriever certified in explosive detection and tracking. K9 Nuke certifies yearly through IPWDA (International Police Working Dog Association) in explosive detection and tracking. K9 Nuke's Handler, Officer Burkett has been employed with the Cary Police Department since 2023. Officer Burkett is responsible for ensuring K9 Nuke is well-maintained and in compliance with all training and is always ready for deployment.

An explosive detection dog is a highly trained canine used to locate explosive materials through its acute sense of smell. These dogs assist law enforcement, military units, transportation security, and private security teams by screening luggage, vehicles, buildings, cargo, and public areas for potential explosive threats. Their primary functions include detecting hidden explosives, supporting bomb disposal operations, conducting security sweeps at events and airports, and helping prevent acts of terrorism or criminal activity.

A huge thank you to Officer Burkett and K9 Nuke for all they do to keep Cary safe!

This week, we honor National Police Week. This is a time to honor the law enforcement officers who gave their lives in the line of duty and to recognize those who continue to serve our communities every day.

This week is about remembrance, gratitude, and support for the officers, families, and loved ones who sacrifice so much in service to others. We remember the fallen, stand with those they left behind, and thank the men and women who put on the badge each day with courage and dedication.
