Burning in Lewis And Clark County is now open. Please be careful and have the resources to extinguish your burn at hand. You ARE required to have and activate a permit.
Go to http://app.egovmt.com/burnpermit/ To get yours.
Remember to extinguish…. Drown, Stir, Drown Again and Feel.

In case you didn’t get one of these in your mail. It explains why burn permits are important to us at the department. Please read.

IN MONTANA, OPEN OUTDOOR BURNING, REQUIRES A LOCAL PERMIT AND DAILY ACTIVATION THROUGH THE MONTANA BURN PERMIT SYSTEM WEBSITE. FOUND AT http://app.egovmt.com/burnpermit/
PERMITS GENERALLY RUN FROM JANUARY 1 THROUGH DECEMBER 31 AND IN CASCADE COUNTY COST $10 PER YEAR. IN LEWIS & CLARK COUNTY THEY COST EIGHT DOLLARS PER YEAR AND ONLY SIX DOLLARS TO RENEW.
DUE TO A RECENT INCREASE OF BURNING WITHOUT ACTIVATING A BURN PERMIT BOTH LEWIS & CLARK AND CASCADE COUNTIES HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED CITATIONS FOR DOING SO.
APPROXIMATELY 85% OF FIREFIGHTERS IN MONTANA ARE VOLUNTEER. ONE OF THE PRIMARY REASONS FOR THE BURN PERMIT SYSTEM IS TO NOT BURDEN VOLUNTEERS WITH POTENTIALLY FALSE FIRE CALLS.
SO PLEASE, IF YOU’RE NOT ALREADY AND YOU PLAN TO BURN. PURCHASE AND ACTIVATE YOUR BURN PERMIT.
REMEMBER, DROWN, STIR, DROWN AGAIN, AND FEEL TO VERIFY EXTINGUISHED.

This morning we responded to a fire at one of our favorite spots. Our hearts go out to the families affected by the fire at the Missouri River Bar & Grill . Thankfully, everyone got out safe. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Lewis and Clark county typically will open burning back up September 1st. This year with a unanimous vote, they have decided to keep burning closed until further notice. Obviously situations are still too volatile for open burning. our community has been very fortunate so far this season. Please continue to follow the rules until they change and hopefully we can get through this season without a major event
Cascade county is also currently closed for burning until further notice.
Thank you all!

We have received some cash donations for this project which we are extremely grateful for. We still lack supplies. Large river rock will likely be the biggest ticket item if we end up having to buy it. If you have any of the listed supplies lying around that you don’t need. We will put it to use. Thanks again!!

A few years ago, we did some training in Chinook. We were all impressed (and maybe a little envious) of the sign they had in front of their fire department.
With your help, we are going to build our own.
So as not to use your money on something that’s non fire suppression, we are asking for supply donations.
We need:
•Large River Rock
•Concrete
•Mortar
•Rebar
•And anything else you think may be helpful.
Once we have all the supplies, we will post a date for construction if anybody is interested in helping. If you have donations, you can drop them at the station or call Scott at 406-799-5564 for pick up.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
