Stalking is more than unwanted attention. It's a serious crime that can have lasting effects on victims.

Stalking involves a pattern of repeated, unwanted behavior directed at a specific individual. These behaviors can take many forms, but they are often targeted and intentional, leaving victims feeling fearful or unsafe.

Recognizing the signs of stalking is an important step toward protecting yourself and others.

Our Victim Services Unit is here to answer your questions, provide support, and help connect you with available resources. - https://www.natronacounty-wy.gov/125/Victim-Services

If you or someone you know is experiencing stalking, you don't have to navigate it alone.

At the request of the Carbon County Sheriff's Office, the Natrona County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team (SRT) assisted with a critical incident in northern Carbon County Tuesday evening.

We appreciate the strong working relationships between our neighboring law enforcement agencies and the coordinated efforts of all first responders involved. Our thoughts are with those impacted by this tragic incident.

For additional details, please see the full release from the Casper Police Department below.

Casper Restaurant Weapons Incident Leads to Multi-Agency Response in Northern Carbon County

Shortly after 10:00pm last night, Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Casper Police responded to a fast-food restaurant located in the 2600 block of CY Avenue in Casper for a report of a weapons offense. Employees of the establishment called 911 after a man allegedly pointed a fi***rm at them through the drive through window.

Evidence obtained through witness statement and video surveillance supports the claim that the suspect attempted to fire his gun but was unsuccessful. All employees and patrons of the establishment sought safe shelter and no injuries occurred.

After the incident at the restaurant, the man fled the area.

Officers and detectives immediately responded and began investigating the incident. The suspect, an adult man, was reported to have left his home in Carbon County hours earlier in a manic state with a weapon.

While that investigation was ongoing, the suspect re-emerged in northern Carbon County making suicidal and homicidal claims. The Natrona County Special Response team was activated at the request of the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect was located in his vehicle and negotiated with law enforcement for hours, continually making threats. Ultimately, the suspect is believed to have taken his own life. No officers fired their weapons during this incident. Officers on scene rendered aid to the suspect until air ambulance services arrived.

This complex, multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional incident is under investigation by several involved agencies including the Casper Police Department, Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, Carbon County Sheriff’s Office and Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigations.

While the outcome of this incident is tragic, the law enforcement response represents the best of our local law enforcement both in our community and in assistance to our neighboring agencies. Thank you to the many first responders including those listed above, as well as the Casper-Natrona County Public Safety Communications Center, Banner-Wyoming Medical Center, Intermountain Health Flight & Ambulance Services and others.

Trauma looks different for everyone.

No two people experience or respond to trauma in exactly the same way. What may affect one person deeply may impact another differently. What’s important to remember is that help is available, and healing is possible.

Talking with someone who understands what you've experienced can be an important first step toward recovery.

Our Victim Services Unit is here to listen, provide support, and help connect victims of crime with professionals and resources for long-term care. Victim Compensation may also be available to help cover eligible expenses related to recovery.
