Tonight kicked off the very first meeting of our Beyond the Bell Book Club, and what a wonderful way to start!

Our members read Wish You Well by David Baldacci, and we had such a thoughtful discussion about the characters, underlying themes, symbolism, and the personal connections each of us made with the story. Members shared their own experiences, memories, and stories that connected with the book, making the conversation about so much more than just what was written on the pages.

We wrapped up with one final question: Who or what was this book wishing well?

It's safe to say we left with plenty to think about and even more appreciation for the stories we share, both in books and in life.

Come join us at our next meeting, date to be announced, and discuss Hollow Bones by Jodi Picoult!

Let us know if you will join us…and we will gladly provide you a book! Call 276-762-9449 for more details.

Today CHS FBLA members traveled to UVA-Wise for Fall Leadership Conference and Napolean Hill Day. During this regional meeting, updates on the new state conference location at the Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Spotsylvania County outline new competitive event opportunities for our students. Mr. Don Green, a resident of Wise, Virginia, the birthplace of Napoleon Hill was recognized for his nearly 45 years of banking, finance, and entrepreneurship experience and his role as Executive Director of the Napoleon Foundation. International speaker, Johnnie Loyd closed the meeting reminding students to set goals and to never allow others to “shrink” who they are as they move forward to goal success! Time to pick events and work towards earning an opportunity to attend the state leadership conference! See a business teacher this week!

NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES!

CHS joins schools and communities across the nation in celebrating Red Ribbon Week, beginning tomorrow, Monday, October 26!

“Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free!”

This year's theme reminds us that being a hero doesn't require superpowers! Sometimes, it's simply making good choices, encouraging others, and standing up for what is right!

Since 1988, Red Ribbon Week has promoted drug-free lifestyles, and its mission is just as important today!

CALLING ALL COMMUNITY HEROES!

We challenge our students, families, churches, businesses, and community supporters to join our Red Ribbon Week dress-up days! Be sure to post your pictures!
