Rodney Pitt Pleads GUILTY to Murder in the 2nd Degree
& Related Charges

District Attorney Joseph Stanzione states that on November 26, 2025, Rodney Pitt was charged with a number of criminal offenses, the top count of which was Murder in the 2nd Degree. It was alleged that he and Drew White came up with a plan to Murder Rodney’s Pitt’s father, Roger Pitt, over an argument regarding bills that were owed, and over Roger’s disapproval of Drew White moving in with Rodney’s minor daughter.

On September 15, 2026, Rodney Pitt pleaded Guilty to Murder in the 2nd Degree, a Class A Violet Felony, Conspiracy in the 2nd Degree, a Class B Felony, Tampering with Physical Evidence, a Class E Felony, and Concealment of a Human Co**se, a Class E Felony.

He recited the manner in which Roger Pitt was killed, how he was buried and the manner in which Roger’s vehicle was scrapped to hide evidence. Roger was initially reported as a missing person after Roger’s sister made several calls inquiring as to the whereabouts of her brother.

Rodney Pitt is scheduled to be sentenced on November 10, 2026, the same date as his co-defendant, Drew White. It is anticipated that Pitt will be sentenced to 19 years to life on the top Count of Murder in the 2nd Degree.

Rodney Pitt is represented by the Greene County District Public Defender’s Office. County Court Judge, Honorable Charles M. Tailleur is presiding over the case.

District Attorney Joseph Stanzione states that this case is resolved thanks to the hard work and joint efforts of the New York State Police, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Cairo Police Department and the Greene County District Attorney’s Office.

After Deliberation, A Greene County Jury
Found Michael LaRosa GUILTY of 3 Felonies
Two Counts Violent Felony Assault 2nd& One Count Felony Unlawful Imprisonment 1st & 3 Misdemeanor Charges

District Attorney Joseph Stanzione states:

On August 14th, 2026, a Greene County Jury recorded a verdict of “Guilty” of two counts of Violent Felony Assault in the 2nd Degree, one count of Felony Unlawful Imprisonment in the 1st Degree; three misdemeanor charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation.

The proof in the case established beyond a reasonable doubt that on or about 9/9/24 - 9/10/24, while residing in his trailer in Leeds, NY, he held his former girlfriend captive preventing her from leaving.

He then engaged in beating her over the course of time thereby causing serious physical injury to her.

Not only did Punch, Kick and Choke her to the point that she could not breath, but he then took a metal toilet paper holder (the type that holds about 5 rolls of toilet paper) and used it to beat her.
Even that was not enough for him as he then proceeded to dig his teeth into her body and rip out a piece of flesh from the back of her shoulder.

This went on for a 2-day period.

On 9/10/24 he forced her to kneel on her hands and knees while naked, at which time he kicked her in and about the head, face and body.

As he was engaged in this conduct a person knocked on the door. LaRosa demanded that the victim remain in the bedroom while he answered the door.

When LaRosa answered the door, the victim dove out of the window, still naked, and ran to the neighbor’s house.
The neighbor called the police thereby ending the abuse.
Michael LaRosa will now be held accountable for the violent crimes he perpetrated against his victim. He received a fair trial before a jury of his peers over which the Honorable Charles M. Tailleur presided in the Greene County Court House. The jury paid strict attention to all of the details of the case and came to a proper verdict.

I thank the New York State Police for their thorough work on this case.

I am proud of my entire staff, all of whom worked on this case; with special thanks to Assistant District Attorney Krista Kline and Assistant District Attorney Marissa Harris who prosecuted the case in the courtroom.

Sentencing is scheduled to take place on October 13, 2026.

On July 15, 2026, Drew White pleaded Guilty to Murder in the 2nd Degree, a Class A-1 Felony, Conspiracy in the 2nd Degree, a Class B Felony, Tampering with Physical Evidence, a Class E Felony, and Concealment of a Human Co**se, a Class E Felony.

On January 20, 2026, the following matters were handled at the Greene County, County Court:

Richard Carelli, 46, of Athens, was sentenced to 3½ years in state prison plus 2 years post release supervision with respect to his conviction for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree.

Mark Suozzi, 35, of Freehold, was sentenced to 4 years probation, one year license revocation and is required to install an interlock device with respect to his conviction for Felony DWI.

On January 13, 2026, the following matters were handled at the Greene County, County Court:

Kenneth Vlasaty, 26, of Purling, pled guilty to R**e in the 3rd Degree and was sentenced to time served and 10 years probation.

Jeremiah Weisinger, 46, of Catskill, pled guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree and Criminal Sale of Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree and was sentenced to 7 years state prison plus 2 years post release supervision.

On February 3, 2026, the following matters were handled at the Greene County, County Court:

David Riggsbee, 24, an incarcerated individual, was sentenced, with respect to his conviction for Attempted Assault in the 2nd Degree, to a term of 2 to 4 years to run consecutive to the prison term he is currently serving. Riggsbee was serving a prison term at Greene Correctional Facility when he physically assaulted a Correction Officer.

Ivan Payamps, 33, an incarcerated individual, was convicted sentenced to 1 ½ to 3 years to run consecutive to the prison term he is currently serving. While serving a sentence at Coxsackie Correctional Facility, Payamps was involved in a fight whereupon it was learned that he possessed a makeshift shank type weapon made of plexiglass.

On February 6, 2026, the following matters were handled at the Greene County, County Court:

Rebecca Austin, 35, was sentenced to 3 years state prison plus 2 years post release supervision for her conviction for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree.

On February 10, 2026, the following matters were handled at the Greene County, County Court:

Olivia Cowan, 30, was sentenced to 1 to 3 years state prison for her conviction for Attempted Robbery in the 3rd Degree.

On March 3, 2026, the following matters were handled at the Greene County, County Court:

Evan Bradt, 36, of Cairo, was sentenced to 4 years in state prison plus 2 years post release supervision for his conviction of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree.

On March 10, 2026, the following matters were handled at the Greene County, County Court:

James Flynn, 58, of Hunter, pled guilty to Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree and Driving While Intoxicated. He was sentenced to a term of probation together with a revocation of driving privileges.

Andrew Yonnetti, 33, of Hunter, pled guilty to Driving While Intoxicated and was sentenced to 5 years probation plus Treatment Court, as well as a revocation of driving privileges.

Tiara McClam, 21, of Bronx, NY, pled guilty to Attempted Promoting Prison Contraband in the 1st Degree and was sentenced to 5 years probation. McClam attempted to bring contraband to an incarcerated individual housed at Greene Correctional Facility.

On March 20, 2026, the following matters were handled at the Greene County, County Court:

Santiago Cruz, 52, of Kingston, pled guilty to Felony Driving While Intoxicated and Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He was sentenced to a term of probation together with a revocation of driving privileges.

On March 24, 202, the following matters were handled at the Greene County, County Court:

Courtney Jenkins, 37, of Castleton, was sentenced to 5 years state prison plus 4 years post release supervision with respect to her conviction of Burglary in the 2nd Degree.

Heidi Albright, 47, of Earlton, was sentenced to 5 years probation, revocation of driving privileges, plus Treatment Court with respect to her conviction of Driving While Intoxicated.

Douglas Young, 43, of Oneonta, was sentenced to 1 to 3 years state prison for his Violation of Probation.
