Cayce Historical Museum Museum has artifacts and interprets the historical, social, and cultural heritage of the
Cayce area.

There is an extensive collection of Native American artifacts, exhibits on the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and the Cayce African-American Legends. The Cayce Historical Museum showcases Cayce's rich cultural and historical heritage. Exhibits emphasize periods of Native American settlement, 18th century colonial trade, the American Revolution, the Civil War, WWII and modern-industrial history. Visitors can also explore the museum's sprawling grounds, featuring numerous outdoor exhibits, picnic tables, and a beautiful hiking trail that backs up to the Granby Pavilion and the Granby Gardens Playground. The main building in the Cayce Historical Museum complex is a replica of a trading post, which was built in the Cayce area in 1765. That trading post was seized by the British during the American Revolution and used as a fort. In 1817, the building was purchased by the Cayce family who used it as a private residence for nearly 100 years. When citizens decided to incorporate the town in 1914, it was named after the Cayce family. The Museum welcomes visitors to comment and post on it's page, however, spam, advertisements, and comments/ posts that aren't related to the Museum, Museum sanctioned events, or the City of Cayce will be deleted.

Join us for a tour of the Congaree Creek Civil War battlefield at the 12,000-Year History Park.

Sherman's army had 45 firefights with Confederate forces between January 1, 1865 and the capture of Columbia on February 17. The battle at Congaree Creek will be among the 3 largest battles involving Sherman's forces during this time frame. Join us as we walk the battlefield, visit the earthworks and learn about the strategies and tactics used by both sides as Sherman marched through South Carolina on his way to Columbia.

Meet on Saturday, October 17 at 10:00 AM at the entrance to the park just beyond the Cayce Tennis Center, 1120 Fort Congaree Trail in Cayce. Free parking at the dirt lot on the left just past the Tennis Center.

This free tour is 1.5 miles long, mostly in shade and on sidewalks, and will take about 2 hours. The tour is sponsored by the City of Cayce.
