Cazenovia Fire Department Proudly serving the Cazenovia area for over 200 years. We have been proudly serving the Cazenovia area for over 200 years.

We are staffed by volunteers and provide the highest quality of professionalism and service that we are held to. We assist CAVAC along with other EMS agencies with first response medical care as well as fire suppression to the greater Cazenovia area as well as Mutual Aid response to surrounding towns and counties. In addition to Fire and EMS we have personnel trained in Search and Rescue, Rope Rescue and Water Rescue.

So far in 2026, nearly 100 citizens have died in home fires in New York.
No smoke alarms and no practiced escape plan were contributing factors to these deaths.
🚨Smoke Alarms are a MUST.
🚨 One on each level, One in every bedroom, & One outside every sleeping area is the NYS fire Code.
🚨Be sure they are not expired. Smoke alarms are good for 10 yrs.
🚨As of 2019 9v battery alarms are no longer sold. Replace with 10 yr sealed.
🚨Test your smoke alarm monthly

This weekend 10 Cazenovia Firemen had the opportunity to take NYS OFPCs Surface Water Rescue Technician course.
Students learned different techniques for rescuing victims from open water scenarios.
Congratulations to Barry Blanchard, Phil Byrnes, Chris Dascher, John Clarke, Kara Judd, Rick Macheda, Jeff Smith, Tom Swart, Ramiro Gutierrez, and Justin Norfleet on passing this challenging course!

Lts Clarke and Wood put on an excellent vehicle extrication drill at the tower tonight!
Stations included a 2 car crash and a bus on its side. All rescue Randy’s were successfully extricated.
Thank you Town of Cazenovia Highway dept for setting up the vehicles. We appreciate your assistance at the tower!
While we were wrapping up training, we were alerted for a possible fire. In addition to immediately sending both engines and rescues from the training tower, additional firefighters arrived at the station for the tanker and the truck.
Thank you to the 26 Cazenovia firefighters who responded, as well as our mutual aid partners from Smithfield, Manlius and Fayetteville.
