Shout out to our bus drivers, nutrition services department, and school and district administrators. Just when we thought we were prepared for anything, the rain came down and flooded access to New Harmony just as the school day was ending. The district quickly rallied around those impacted students. Within minutes, ICSD was prepared to feed, entertain, protect and eventually transport those students. We sure love being part of this community team and pull together in an emergency.

Many families in our district face real food insecurity, especially during the holidays. ICSD has a food pantry in our district which helps families on a weekly basis. A few of our schools have smaller pantries for emergencies as well. We have noticed demand increasing.

As we recognize Make a Difference Day, we are hoping you can help us fill those pantries.

A districtwide food drive kicks off on Oct. 23. Each school will have a collection box near the entry. Non-perishable foods (canned food, boxed meals, etc.) can be placed in those boxes. We will continue to collect food until Oct. 30.

Can't make it to the school to drop off food? Consider making a donation at https://sfnd.io/icsdfooddrive. About $30 can fill a holiday box with staples to get through Christmas break.

Keil Johnson, an artist who has worked with Disney, Adobe, Uber, and others, hung out with Launch High School students all week. Students were in full creative mode as they took on the task of creating letters out of cardboard. Each student brought their own unique spin to the process with some decorating the letters with intricate drawings. While for others, the creativity was In the shaping of the letter.
