October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to recognize survivors, remember those who have lost their lives, and honor the advocates who stand beside victims when they need someone the most.
This month, we want to shine a very special spotlight on Jessica Caudilla, Cedar Hill Police Department’s Victim Assistance Liaison.
Jessica’s commitment to helping others began long before she entered the law enforcement world. Starting her career in 2004, she spent more than 12 years working with the homeless community, driven by a passion for giving back and helping people through some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
In 2016, Jessica began her journey in law enforcement as the Crime Victims Advocate for the Duncanville Police Department. After five years there, she joined the Cedar Hill Police Department in February 2022, where she has continued her mission of supporting victims and their families.
But for Jessica, this work is more than a career—it is personal.
At just 17 years old, Jessica was herself a victim of crime. During one of the most traumatic times of her life, an advocate stepped in and provided guidance and support to Jessica and her family. That experience stayed with her and ultimately inspired her to become that same source of hope, guidance, and compassion for others.
Today, Jessica uses her experience, education, and incredible heart to help victims navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science with a minor in Criminal Justice, but perhaps her greatest qualification is something that cannot be written on a résumé: she genuinely cares.
Her dedication has not gone unnoticed. Jessica was recently recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) with an award honoring her contributions to victims throughout Dallas County. 🏆💜
Jessica, thank you for being the person who answers the phone, listens to the stories, explains the next steps, provides resources, and reminds victims that they do not have to walk through their darkest moments alone.
Your work may not always be visible to the public, but its impact is immeasurable.
You are a voice for those who feel unheard.
You are a guide for those who feel lost.
You are an advocate for those who need someone in their corner.
And most importantly, you are proof that someone’s darkest chapter can become the reason they help someone else find their way through theirs.
