We have our first 2 honorary graduates of the paramedic program! Unfortunately they won’t be out doing clinicals and ride time, but they were excellent students!

Today, we had the privilege of recognizing several members of the Area Ambulance Service team with the Saving Lives Beyond the Call Challenge Coin, presented by the Iowa Donor Network.

While many calls come to an end, the opportunity to give the gift of life can create hope for countless others. Through their professionalism, compassion, and commitment to honoring a patient’s wishes, these providers played an important role in the organ and tissue donation process.

Together, the efforts of these team members have helped make it possible for 16 lives to be saved or enhanced through the gift of organ and tissue donation.

We are incredibly proud of our crews and grateful to the Iowa Donor Network for recognizing the lasting impact EMS professionals have, not only in caring for patients, but in helping create a legacy of hope for others.

Congratulations to all of our recipients, and thank you for continuing to make a difference both on and beyond the call.

There was plenty of curiosity, learning, and hands-on fun at Community STEM Day!

Area Ambulance Service was proud to partner with Cedar Rapids Fire Department to introduce students to the exciting world of emergency medical services and public safety. Students had the opportunity to explore one of our ambulances, learn about the lifesaving equipment we use every day, and participate in a hands-on lung model activity that demonstrated how our respiratory system works.

It was a great opportunity to showcase how science, technology, and teamwork come together to make a difference in emergency medicine while inspiring the next generation of healthcare providers and first responders.
