🍂 CEDARBURG FALL LEAF COLLECTION UPDATE 🍁

The City of Cedarburg Department of Public Works has officially transitioned from brush collection to fall leaf pickup!

🌳 Brush Collection: Brush collection for the year ended in early October. Any remaining brush piles at the curb must be removed by the property owner. Brush can still be dropped off at the DPW Recycling Yard during regular hours.

🍁 Leaf Collection: Leaf pickup is now underway! DPW crews will continue working throughout the City until leaves have finished falling or snowfall begins.

🚛 Crews will be collecting leaves and sweeping streets throughout the season as weather and staffing allow. Heavy rain may require additional equipment to collect larger leaf piles.

🍂 Thank you for your patience and cooperation as our crews work to keep Cedarburg clean and safe this fall!

October 17th is National Move Over Day.

Please remember to move over or slow down for service and emergency vehicles on the side of the road, not only because its the law, but for the safety of the workers and pedestrians in or around those vehicles!

Over 500 people each year are killed by driver's not moving over and slowing down for service and emergency vehicles on the shoulder, with thousands more injured. Help keep our protectors safe!

🚧 SOUTH WASHINGTON AVENUE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE 🚧

We're getting closer to the finish line! 🎉 Here's the latest progress on the South Washington Avenue Reconstruction Project:

✅ Pavement Markings: Complete!

✅ Concrete Work: Complete!

🚦 Traffic Signals: Final wiring is underway at the Pioneer/Washington and Lincoln/Washington intersections. Signals will initially flash red until traffic control is removed and the lights are fully activated.

🚗 Driveway Patching: Asphalt repairs are scheduled for Saturday.

🌱 Restoration Work: Expected to be completed early next week.

🚧 Traffic Reminder: Outside lanes remain closed, with traffic traveling in both directions using the two middle lanes.

📅 Anticipated Completion: November 6, 2026 — but we're hopeful the project will wrap up sooner!

Our water crew will be flushing hydrants throughout the City of Cedarburg during the week of October 12th.

During hydrant flushing, you may temporarily experience cloudy or discolored water. If this occurs, run cold water from a lower level faucet or an outside spigot until the water runs clear. This will help avoid dragging cloudy water throughout your entire home or business.

Work continues to move forward on the South Washington Avenue Reconstruction Project!

This week and next, crews will be:
• Finishing remaining pavement markings
• Completing wheelchair ramps, sidewalks, and concrete repairs
• Installing new traffic light poles and completing wiring at Pioneer/Washington and Lincoln/Washington
• Completing several driveway asphalt patches
• Finishing restoration work and touch-ups

🚗 Traffic Reminder: The outside lanes of Washington Avenue remain closed, with traffic traveling in both directions using the two middle lanes.

📅 The project is scheduled for completion by November 6, 2026, although crews are hopeful work will wrap up sooner.

South Washington Avenue Reconstruction Update

Progress continues on the South Washington Avenue Reconstruction Project!

Stark Asphalt has completed the asphalt paving, and pavement markings are expected to begin Friday night or Sunday night. Some nighttime or overnight closures may be necessary while this work is completed.

Traffic is currently shifted to the two west lanes of Washington Avenue. Once pavement markings are finished, traffic will move to the two middle lanes so crews can complete the remaining work along the outside lanes.

Next steps include:
• Completing remaining wheelchair ramps and sidewalk areas
• Replacing cracked concrete in several locations
• Continuing installation of wiring and poles for the new traffic signals at Pioneer/Washington and Lincoln/Washington
• Finishing restoration work along the project area

The project is scheduled for completion by November 6, 2026, although crews are hopeful it may be finished sooner.
