Those being… VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, and Search), Primary Search, Hose Control, Nozzle Forward, and Forcible Entry.

The mission of today’s training was to work with multiple departments from neighboring counties to improve our ability to better serve our communities. ***Grass Fire in a Thunderstorm***

At approximately 7:15pm Monday evening, Station 23 was dispatched to a brush fire in the area of CR 1042 and CR 1043. Dispatched received numerous calls on this fire and a second alarm was requested bringing Wolfe City Fire Rescue, Merit Volunteer Fire Department, Farmersville Fire Department, Texas, and Texas A&M Forest Service. Celeste Command 123 arrived on scene to find a large flame front moving towards CR 1042 and threatening several structures.

Due to the rapid fire development and heavy fuel load, the first arriving crews were tasked with stopping the forward fire progression and protecting several structures. The forward fire progression was stopped within 1 hour of the initial dispatch. Crews operated on scene for approximately 1.5 hours before clearing the scene. Celeste Command 123 held CR 1042 Command. With the sky full of lightning and gusty winds, firefighters faced challenging conditions. In total, a little under 20 acres burned and a lightning strike is the most likely cause. Station 23 would like to give a big thank you to all of our mutual aid companies for their assistance.

Even though we just received a small amount of rain, Hunt County remains under a Burn Ban. Please refrain from all outdoor burning.🔥
