Most of Middle Tennessee west of the Cumberland Plateau is under a Heat Advisory (again!) tomorrow and Wednesday. Heat index values (i.e., "feels-like" temperatures) of 105°+ can be expected in many areas the next two afternoons. Abnormally hot weather is likely to persist through the weekend, with maybe, hopefully, mercifully somewhat cooler temperatures settling in next week, just in time for the autumnal equinox.

Make Safety Part of Your Weekend Plans.

Labor Day marks the final major weekend of the 2026 summer boating season. If you’re heading out on Tennessee’s lakes and rivers, make safety part of your plans.

Wear a properly fitted life jacket, never boat under the influence, check the weather, and maintain safe speeds while being mindful of other boaters, swimmers, and paddleboarders.

TWRA game wardens will be on the waterways monitoring for dangerous and reckless boating behavior.

Have a safe Labor Day weekend, on and off the water!
