Join us tonight. Lets talk mitigation needs.

Partners,

Mercer County is updating our County's Hazard Mitigation Plan. This update is required by FEMA every five years to remain eligible for funding projects. Municipalities, police and fire departments, schools, businesses, and the public may receive funding for any mitigation strategy found in the approved and adopted plan update. For this plan update, Mercer and Van Wert counties will be completing a multi-county regional plan. Community input is critical to this plan's success (and the FEMA approval process). As such, we are asking for your participation in the planning process at the upcoming meeting: 7:00 pm at 4978 Mud Pike Rd, Celina, OH 45822 on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. For more information, visit https://u.osu.edu/mercervanwerthmp/ or email [email protected].

We and the students strongly encourage participation.

Have you ever heard of 211? Have you ever wonder what actually happens when you call 211? There is no script to memorize and no wrong way to explain a situation. When someone calls Ohio 211, a trained navigator listens first, asks a few questions, and works with them to find local programs that fit what their family needs. It is a conversation, not an interrogation.

From NWS: September 20, 2026 11:16am

Partners -- we are seeing some signals for a greater chance for strong to severe storms to develop this afternoon into this evening. As of right now, we are expecting a broken line of storms to develop and quickly progress to the southeast through the area. While not all storms along the line will be severe, some embedded severe storms will be possible during this time, with damaging winds being the primary threat. The graphic here shows the approximate timing of the storms, with the times on the map representing the middle point of a 2-hour window. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. More updates will follow.
