🚨TAP-TO-PAY CREDIT CARD FRAUD 🚨

Law enforcement is seeing an emerging concern involving organized criminal groups using digital payment technology to commit credit card fraud.
In recent incidents, suspects have used stolen credit card information through digital wallets, including Apple Pay and Google Wallet, and then manually entered card information at checkout to make unauthorized, high-value purchases.

These schemes can involve multiple stolen credit cards, coordinated activity between suspects, and purchases designed to move quickly before the fraud is detected. This type of activity serves as a reminder that criminals continue to adapt their methods and exploit modern technology.

⚠️ How can you protect yourself? 🔹 Monitor your bank and credit card transactions regularly. 🔹 Enable transaction alerts through your financial institution. 🔹 Immediately report unfamiliar charges or suspicious activity. 🔹 Contact your bank if your card is lost, stolen, or compromised. 🔹 Never share verification codes or banking information with unsolicited callers or messages.

🏪 Retailers: Be alert for suspicious purchasing patterns, multiple declined transactions, repeated attempts using different payment methods, or unusually large purchases. Follow your established payment verification procedures and report suspected fraud to law enforcement.

📢 Help spread the word. Awareness is one of the best tools we have to help protect our community. Criminals are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and staying informed can help prevent others from becoming victims.

If you believe you have been a victim of credit card fraud, contact your financial institution immediately and report the incident to your local law enforcement agency.
Stay alert. Protect your information. Report suspicious activity.

We are excited to introduce our newest addition to the police department. Pictured with his partner Patrolman Zac Nelson is K9 officer Digo.

Ptl. Nelson and Digo recently completed the Basic Police K9 Handler Course at Von der haus Gill K9 Academy. Digo is just over a year old and came from Germany.

K9 Digo is a dual-purpose dog, trained in patrol work and narcotics. They will continue to train with other area agencies.

Having a police dog is a 24/7 commitment. We are proud that Officer Nelson took on the responsibility and know he and his new partner will serve our community to make it safer for everyone!

⚠️Gas Leak⚠️
Please avoid the area of Irmscher Blvd and the old Walmart plaza due to a gas leak. The Fire Department is in the area and waiting on the gas company to arrive. At this time there is no need to evacuate.

Please be aware that the intersection of S. Main Street and Logan Street has four way flashing red lights. The intersection gets treated just like a four way stop sign intersection.

The lights should be repaired and running normal tomorrow after a part comes in.

Thank you.

Drug Arrest Results from Traffic Stop

On July 9, 2026, at approximately 10:53 a.m., a Celina Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling on Grand Lake Road near the railroad tracks after observing the vehicle operating without a visible license plate.

During the course of the investigation, the officer located a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine, suspected psilocybin mushrooms, and various items of drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

The driver, Brandon Michael Vede, 42, of Slaughter, Louisiana, was arrested on multiple felony drug-related charges. He is currently being held without bond at the Mercer County Jail pending review by the Mercer County Grand Jury.

Also arrested was the passenger, Kendra Lee Keesler, 31, of Van Wert, Ohio. Keesler was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant issued by the Van Wert County Sheriff's Office and was subsequently transferred to their custody.

The Celina Police Department would like to thank Mercer County Prosecutor Erin Minor and Mercer County Job and Family Services for their assistance during this investigation.

🚦 Traffic Signal Reminder – Grand Lake Rd. & Havemann Rd. 🚦

The traffic signal at the intersection of Grand Lake Road and Havemann Road is currently malfunctioning and is scheduled to be serviced tomorrow. An outside company has to do this work.

Until repairs are completed, all motorists should treat the intersection as a four-way stop. This means:

🛑 Come to a complete stop before entering the intersection.
🚗 Yield the right-of-way to any vehicle that arrived before you.
↔️ If two vehicles arrive at the same time, the driver on the left should yield to the driver on the right.
🚶 Be alert for pedestrians and cyclists before proceeding.

If the light is green for another driver, even if the light is malfunctioning, you must yield until all traffic is clear.

Please use extra caution while traveling through the area and allow yourself a little extra time. Your patience and attention help keep everyone safe. Thank you for your patience.
