Center Conway’s Explorer Program Center Conway Explorer Post 11 will be performing live training tonight from 6-9pm at a residence on East Conway Rd, near Sherman’s Farm. There will be a
presence of apparatus and a mild smoke condition in the area.
It is not an active emergency!

🚒 MVA TRAINING 🚒

Last night, Center Conway Fire & Rescue members participated in hands-on motor vehicle accident training focused on vehicle stabilization, extrication, and patient safety in several different MVA scenarios.

A special thank you to Lindsay Ferren of Bryant’s Towing for providing the vehicles, and Ben Falcey of SAU 9 Transportation for providing a school bus and training our members on bus-related accidents.

Training like this gives our members the opportunity to practice with real vehicles, real tools, and realistic scenarios so we’re ready when the call comes.

🚤☀️ Warmer weather is here, and more people are enjoying Conway Lake and the S**o River.

Last night, members of Center Conway Fire & Rescue completed our annual water rescue training to ensure we're prepared when emergencies happen.

As you head out on the water, please remember:

• Always wear a life jacket—especially children and non-swimmers.
• Have a properly fitted life preserver for every person on board.
• Never swim or boat alone.
• Be aware that water temperatures can remain dangerously cold, even on warm days.
• Avoid alcohol while boating.
• Keep a close eye on children near the water at all times.
• Check weather and river conditions before heading out.

A few simple precautions can prevent a tragedy and help everyone enjoy a safe summer on the water.

Our fire danger is High as well today, please be cautious with your outdoor fires!

⚠️🔥 The predicted fire danger for today, Friday, 4/10, is HIGH for our FDRA (Fire Danger Rating Area).

High (Yellow):
Wildfires are likely. Fires in heavy, continuous fuel such as mature grassland, w**d fields, and forest litter, will be difficult to control under windy conditions. Outdoor burning should be restricted to early morning and late evening hours. Permit is required.

Forest Fire Prevention Tips:

⚠️ Avoid burning on high fire danger days
⚠️ Ensure campfires are completely extinguished. Pour water, stir, repeat.
⚠️ Don’t park on dry grass. Your vehicle’s exhaust could start a fire.
⚠️ Dispose of smoking materials responsibly.

It's that time of year again!! The snow is melting, temps are getting warmer and people are getting excited to burn all that brush from our winter storms or last year's yard projects! Here are a couple of reminders before you light off your brush pile:

-Fire permits are required for ALL burning, whether it is the small campfire for your marshmallows or the massive pile of branches you've collected for the past few winters.

-While we're waiting for the rest of the snow remnants to melt, you can burn brush piles without a permit, however, the pile must be surrounded by accumulated snow for 100 feet in any direction. It also still needs to be 50 feet from any structure.

-Furniture, plastics, or trash of any kind are banned from being burned. Please take them to the dump!

You can also get permits written at our fire station at 1593 East Main Street, Center Conway NH. If you have questions about permitting you can reach out to the state DNCR office or call the station at 603-447-5671. If you have concerns about a burn pile you see, please dial 911. Remember, only you can prevent wildfires!

With warmer temperatures arriving, ice conditions are rapidly changing and could become thin and unsafe. Even ice that appeared solid just days ago may no longer support weight.

Tonight our members completed our annual ice rescue training to stay prepared for these emergencies. Please remember:

• Avoid going out on questionable ice
• Never assume ice is safe just because others were on it earlier
• If someone falls through, call 911 immediately and do not attempt a risky rescue yourself

Cold water can incapacitate in minutes.

Stay safe and use caution around lakes, ponds, and rivers during this transition period. Photos from tonight’s training will be posted below.

We’re happy to announce that starting this spring, Center Conway Fire Rescue will be offering free, voluntary fire safety surveys of homes and apartments located in the Center Conway Fire Precinct!

This will give the homeowner or tenant a review of the current fire safety systems and any other recommendations we can provide to strengthen the safety of your home.

Our crews here at Center Conway Fire had a busy 2025 with a record-breaking 525 calls for service. This number breaks our previous record in 2024 of 482 calls for service.
