Did you know? Gilpin County uses two types of election systems, both protected by multiple layers of security.

🔐 Voter registration systems (from the Secretary of State) are online and monitored around the clock by cybersecurity experts from the FBI, CBI, DHS, and others. Access requires multi-factor authentication and is limited to authorized election staff.
💾 Voting and tabulation equipment — the machines that cast and count votes — are not connected to the internet, and never have been. They operate on closed networks, and all transfers of results happen by secured flash drives under camera surveillance.
🧰 All election equipment is stored in locked, monitored rooms with keycard access limited to the Clerk and Chief Deputy. Every entry is logged.

Gilpin County’s elections are conducted with care, professionalism, and transparency — so you can vote with confidence.

Election Workers: The People Behind Secure Elections

Every election in Gilpin County is made possible by a team of dedicated, bipartisan election workers.

- They follow state law and strict security procedures to ensure every vote is handled correctly.
- All workers pass a criminal background check, complete state and local training, and work in bipartisan teams — meaning no one person ever handles ballots or equipment alone.
- Accountability, transparency, and teamwork are built into every step.

Our Clerk’s Office takes election integrity seriously — because every vote deserves trust.
