🚨 BREAKING NEWS… WELL, NOT REALLY! 🚨

Apparently, someone escaped from the Centralia Police Department yesterday. 😳

That’s news to us! 😂

We’ve checked the building, counted our officers, and even looked under the desks. As far as we can tell, nobody has made a great escape!

In all seriousness, we’ve seen the social media post circulating about an individual allegedly escaping custody from the Centralia Police Department.

We can confirm this DID NOT happen in Centralia, MISSOURI.

We’re not sure which Centralia they’re talking about, but it certainly isn’t ours!

So rest easy, Centralia. There’s no escaped prisoner running around town from our department.

And to whoever is out there making headlines in another Centralia… we’d appreciate it if you’d leave us out of it! 😂🚔

🎃👻 October has arrived… and things are getting spooky in Centralia! 👻🎃

The Centralia Police Department is back with another monthly safety video, but this time we gave it a little Halloween twist. 🚔🦇

From trick-or-treat safety and watching for little monsters in the roadway, to locking your vehicles, avoiding scams, and making smart choices behind the wheel, we’ve got you covered this October.

There may also be a skeleton, a terrible Chief Hatton dad joke, and a suspicious case involving the last Reese’s. 👀🍫😂

Turn up the volume, check out the video, and share it with your favorite ghosts and goblins!

🎃 Have a safe and spooky October, Centralia! 🎃

On August 22, 2026 at 1924 hours, CEPD officers were made aware of a scam involving a Centralia business. Someone claiming to be a deputy with a county sheriff’s office told an employee to take money from the cash register and go to certain stores in town to deposit the money on prepaid gift cards. The person also asked for personal information from the employees. Law enforcement will never ask for gift cards and if you receive a suspicious phone call, hang up and contact the Centralia Police Department at 311.

🚨🐾 K-9 Applicant Found! 🐾🚨

This morning, this friendly pup was following someone on their morning walk before deciding to report for duty... by walking right up to one of our officers. 😂

While we appreciate the interest, we don't think this future K-9 got permission to leave home.

If this is your dog, or you know who it belongs to, please contact the Centralia Police Department at 573-682-2131 or by calling 311.

Please share this post so we can help this four-legged recruit find its way back home. Until then, we'll let it know the K-9 application process is a little more involved than just showing up with a wagging tail! 🐶🚔
