ππ©οΈ KINDNESS IN ACTION β THIS IS WHAT BEING A WONDER IS ALL ABOUT! π©οΈπ
Sometimes, in the middle of a busy school day, something happens that reminds us exactly why we do what we do. β€οΈ
During intramurals, a group of our students took the time to welcome and include Johnathan, a new student at CKMS, in a game of foursquare.
The picture captures Liam sharing a special moment with Johnathan, but there were several other young men who were part of making him feel welcomed and included, and they deserve recognition, too!
π Liam, Jackson Atkins, Jaxon Seay, Samson Davis, and Luke Dawson β I want you to know how proud I am of ALL of you!
It may seem like a small gesture to some, but to me, it's a BIG deal!
As principal, I talk to our students all the time about kindness, compassion, respect, and treating others the way we would want to be treated.
Yes, academics are important. We have high expectations for our students, and we work hard every day to help them succeed in the classroom. But I've always believed that middle school is about so much more than test scores, grades, and learning standards.
It's also about learning how to be a good human being.
It's about including someone who might feel left out. It's about making someone feel welcome. It's about understanding that something as simple as inviting someone to join your game can make a tremendous difference in their day.
And sometimes, our students teach those lessons better than any adult ever could.
What makes this moment so special to me is that these boys didn't have to be told to be kind. They simply chose to be.
We spend a lot of time addressing the things our students get wrong. But I believe it's just as important, if not more important, that we recognize and celebrate the things they get RIGHT.
And this right here? This is something worth celebrating! π
To Liam, Jackson, Jaxon, Samson, and Luke β thank you for showing Johnathan what it means to be part of the Wonder family. And Johnathan, we're glad you're here!
Because at Ceredo-Kenova Middle School, we're not just working to develop better students.
We're working to develop better people.
Keep being kind. Keep including others. Keep making a difference.
THAT'S THE WONDER WAY! π©οΈπ
