🎃🎃🎃 Smash Event on Sat, Nov 7th from 11am to 3pm at the Landscape ♻️ Center in Urbana!

Halloween is just around the corner, and the idea of your old jack-o-lantern or other decorative gourds heading to the landfill for burial is scary! Pumpkins and other organic wastes break down without oxygen in landfills, creating methane, a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. Plus, just think of all the nutrients and water that could be returned to the soil to grow future pumpkins and other crops, if only your jack-o-lantern were composted instead of being sealed away in the landfill tomb! Never fear--CCES & the Landscape Recycling Center will once again be hosting a Pumpkin Smash event on Saturday, November 7 at the LRC from 11 am to 3 pm. We had to use a different parking lot this time because some cars were parked in the other one. We appreciate everyone going with the flow & for all of the kind words we received about the event. 💚 Until next year…
