Paul Allen from the North Carolina Office of EMS presented research at EMS World studying EMD and its impact on Cardiac Arrest Outcomes. Durham County’s Lee Van Vleet and Sara Houston won best poster presentation for their research into the Effect of County Poverty Ratio on ROSC in Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest.

The South Carolina Bureau of EMS, the North Carolina Office of EMS, the West Virginia Office of EMS, with the EMS Performance Improvement Center, all won awards for research that was submitted at this year’s National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO) Annual Meeting. Together our states had six abstracts accepted at the conference, taking home three of the four top awards including 1st place for “A Description of Naloxone by Law Enforcement Officers in South Carolina”.

As we run through our busy days let's take some time to reflect on the great team and supportive family that we have. From our EMTs/Paramedics in the field, to our educators bringing up the next generation, to our administrators tasked with guiding our services, our State EMS Offices who offer direction, as well as all the other stakeholders who help support us and allow us to provide the best care for our patients. We are Stronger Together.
