π¦π‘ 8th Grade Shark Tank Success! π‘π¦
Over the past 1.5 months, 8th grade Business Students in Ms. Morse's CTE class have been hard at work transforming creative ideas into realistic business plans.
Students researched and developed all 7 components of a professional business plan. Along the way, they applied technology and business skills learned throughout the year by creating spreadsheets, charts, graphs, financial projections, professional documents, and presentation materials.
Students had the opportunity to present their businesses to our incredible panel of Sharks: Mr. Horne, Mrs. Vasselli, Mrs. Sherrill, Officer Kennedy, and Mr. Greene. Each group confidently pitched their ideas, answered challenging questions, and defended their business decisions just like real entrepreneurs.
Thank you to our Shark panel for investing your time, expertise, and encouragement into making this experience authentic and memorable for our students!

βMy biggest two reasons for being an AD are to get as many people involved in sports as possible and to show girls out there that this isnβt just a job for males.β β€οΈ As sports at MMS wind down for the year, we have to give a HUGE shoutout to the person who makes so much of it possible: our amazing Athletic Director, Coach Mackenzie Casey! πβ€οΈ
From organizing buses, officials, schedules, and weather plans to supporting 30β40 coaches and creating opportunities for more than 450 student-athletes (2/3 of the student body!) this year, Mackenzie works tirelessly behind the scenes to make MMS athletics thrive.
Her mission is simple: get as many students involved in sports as possible and show girls that leadership roles in athletics are for them too. πͺ A proud graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, where she earned both her bachelorβs and masterβs degrees, Coach Casey has always had a passion for athletics. Over the years, she competed in volleyball, basketball, softball, cross country, track & field, and swimming; experiences that shaped not only her love for competition, but also her understanding of what sports can teach young people beyond the scoreboard. πͺHer inspiration to become a PE teacher came from her grandmother. Her grandmother was the first female PE teacher in her hometown. That legacy sparked a passion that continues today, especially in her role as Athletic Director.
Beyond the games and practices, sheβs building confidence, teamwork, and belonging for our students every single day.
Thank you, Coach Casey, for everything you do for MMS! π βIβve got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.β- Larry Bird.
