April ushered in National Library Week and School Library Month. We used this as an opportunity to share Mychal Threets new book entitled “I’m So Happy You’re Here: A Celebration of Library Joy”. Students were able to express what brings them joy in the library and turn it in to make a button! Now we have library JOY walking around Northside. 🥰 Here’s hoping young and old alike always find joy in library spaces. NC School Library Media Association

Our chess boards are by far, one of the most popular spots in the library. I love capturing moments when our staff get just as invested as the kids. Connections and Community grow through library spaces.

We have had A LOT happening here in the library the last few months but haven’t been great at sharing all the goodness and joy. Starting today we will work our way backwards to share some library joy with our community. First up…
POEM IN YOUR POCKET DAY! Held on April 30th during National Poetry Month! Students are encouraged to carry a poem in their pocket and share with others throughout the day. We feature poems across the building on large posters with copies the community can take. This year our poster poems were written by our students! Anyone across Northside was invited to submit their own poems to the library. On the special day, they even received a button they could wear with their poem on it. Of course, student poets also had to sign their original works. 🥰👏🏼👏🏼 Great job Navigators!
