U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Lake Murray Welcome to the official U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla Lake Murray page. U.S. We are the uniformed volunteer component of the U.S. All comments are moderated.

We are a uniformed volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard serving the Lake Murray community and beyond. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 12-3 Lake Murray was chartered February 1, 1947, as the first flotilla in South Carolina. Coast Guard and our members provide value-measured assistance to the Coast Guard, boaters and to the community. The Coast Guard considers the Auxiliary its primary resource for recreational boating safety outreach and prevention. In many inland portions of the country, where the majority of U.S. recreational boating occurs on lakes and rivers, the Auxiliary is the sole Coast Guard presence. We conduct safety patrols on local waterways, assist the Coast Guard with homeland security duties, teach boating safety classes, conduct courtesy vessel safety checks for the public, as well as many other activities. We Will Never Forget.

Twenty-five years later, the memories of that day continue to remind us that freedom is never free and that the strength of our nation is found in the resilience, unity, and selfless service of its people.

May we never forget the lives that were taken, the heroes who answered the call, and the enduring spirit of the American people.

Today marks the beginning of America's 250th anniversary celebration. As we celebrate Independence Day, we pause to remember the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the Patriots who secured our nation's freedom 250 years ago.

On this day, and always, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary reminds the boating community to enjoy our freedoms and liberties by getting out on the water, but do so safely and responsibly.

Stay sober while boating.
Keep a lookout for other boaters and watercraft.
Protect yourself and others from over exposure.
Stay hydrated with water and electrolytes.
Slow down, especially in no-wake zones.
Wear a lifejacket; children always should!

07/02/2026

As we celebrate the 'Spirit of 1776," keep your spirit ALIVE by wearing your life jacket when boating or near the water. Safety NEVER takes a holiday, and this celebration is a great reminder that the joy of boating relies on the personal responsibility of prevention. You and your loved ones will continue to wave the flag for years to follow.
Please feel free to share in anticipation of your holiday social media postings.
