Odyssey Online Learning Odyssey Online Learning is a tuition-free public virtual charter school serving students across South Carolina in grades 6-12!

Established in 2009, we’ve been providing personalized education for over 16 years. Odyssey Online Learning has educated thousands of high school students since 2009. Odyssey Online Learning serves students state-wide in South Carolina and is a tuiton-free public high school. The mission of Odyssey Online Learning is to provide a high-quality education for a wide variety of students by offering alternative solutions to traditional schooling while assisting students in achieving the knowledge and skills to reach their highest potential within a flexible and tailored educational program that fosters lifelong learning.

🏛️ FIELD TRIP FUN AT THE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE MUSEUM! 💙

Our OOL High School students took learning beyond the virtual classroom on Friday, October 9, with a field trip to the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia! 🎉

Students had the opportunity to explore exhibits highlighting South Carolina's history, science, technology, art, and natural history - bringing topics they've learned about to life in a whole new way. 🔬🎨🦖

But field trips are about more than what we learn! Days like this also give our students the chance to spend time together face to face, connect with teachers and classmates, and build relationships outside of the virtual classroom. 💙

Thank you to our students, families, and staff who joined us and helped make the day such a great experience!

📚 STAFF HIGHLIGHT: MEET MR. CHRIS WATTS! 💙

Mr. Chris Watts is a History Teacher at Odyssey Online Learning, bringing 13 years of experience in education and celebrating his third year with Team Odyssey! 🎉

What does he value most about teaching at OOL? The connections. Mr. Watts enjoys getting to know students and families from across South Carolina and seeing how the virtual classroom brings together different perspectives, experiences, and ideas. 💻🌎

His advice to students is simple but important: It’s okay not to know something - that’s where learning begins! Ask questions, speak up when you need help, and remember that your teachers are here to support your success. 🙌

Mr. Watts is also looking forward to an exciting OOL first this spring- our very first student delegation will represent Odyssey at the 2027 SC Youth in Government Conference! 🏛️👏

Outside of the classroom, you might find him putting his skills to work in the kitchen, restoring old tools in his garage, tackling his next DIY project, or spending time with his family. 🍳🔨

💙 HAPPY NATIONAL BOSS’S DAY, MRS. OWINGS! 💙

Today, we’re celebrating our CEO, Mrs. Ashley Owings, and the leadership, heart, and dedication she brings to Odyssey Online Learning each day!

Now in her eighth year at OOL, Mrs. Owings has helped lead our school through tremendous growth and progress. Throughout that growth, she has remained focused on creating meaningful opportunities for students, strengthening our school community, and continually moving OOL forward. 🎓💙

For Mrs. Owings, Odyssey is more than a school - she considers it her “mission field.” That sense of purpose is reflected in the way she leads, the relationships she builds, and the genuine care she has for our students, families, and staff. She values the opportunity to walk alongside our students, celebrate their growth, and see their hard work turn into success.

She encourages us to keep moving forward, celebrates our successes, and keeps our focus on what matters most - making a difference for students. 🌟

💙 CELEBRATING NATIONAL PRINCIPALS MONTH 💙

We're continuing our celebration of National Principals Month by shining the spotlight on Mrs. Sarah Zaengle! 🎉📚

Now in her 16th year in education and 4th year at OOL, Mrs. Zaengle loves building meaningful connections with students and families while helping students grow into lifelong learners and citizens of the world. 🌎

One piece of advice she shares with students is to find a routine that works: organize your day, create a consistent schedule, and do your best to stick with it. 🗓️

This year, she's especially looking forward to watching our students - and OOL - continue to grow and achieve new things! 💙

✨ FUN FACT: Mrs. Zaengle got married at Disney World! 🏰❤️

Outside of school, she loves spending time with family and friends, whether they're watching sports together or traveling somewhere new. ✈️🏈

With 25 years in education and five years at Odyssey Online Learning, Mrs. Colleen White brings incredible experience to her role as a Student Engagement Specialist! 🎉

One of the most rewarding parts of her work is helping students overcome challenges and discover what success can look like for them at OOL. She loves encouraging students along the way and reminding them that they have a whole team ready to support them. 💙🙌

Her advice to students? Reach out when you need help! Asking for support is an important part of learning, and our OOL team is here to help you succeed. 💻📚
