Today I would like to show the human side of your officers. The behind the badge if you will. Back in April, Chief Reynolds was reading a facebook post from a friend, Sheriff Florence. As he read the post, Sheriff Florence was telling everyone about a young man named Jude that has Pearson's Syndrome.

A story about Jude was sent out to all the Kansas Sheriff's. They then started sending out a message and over time, the story reached law enforcement from all over the nation.

As Chief Reynolds read the story, he knew what he needed to do. Chief Reynolds made up a package with a basball card of K9 Dash, some shoulder patches, and some challenge coins and mailed them off to Jude.

A short time later, Jude sent back a handwritten thank you letter and his own challenge coin. Chief Reynolds has never met Jude. He has only taked to him via the mail system. How many 10 yr olds have an email? Well snail mail was the only option.

I say he never met Jude until.......yesterday! Chief Reynolds was at the Ks State Fair representing our city and the Chapman Fire Dept. Chief Reynolds heard a little voice call him by name. Chief Reynolds turned around and saw Jude. He got a big hug from Jude and they talked for a bit. Chief Reynolds took his fire hat right off his head and gave it to Jude. Jude told Chief Reynolds that he has gotten a lot of hats and shirts from different departments, but never a fire department hat. Chief Reynolds was very delighted to get a picture with Jude.

Take a look his story.
