Our Culinary Arts students toured Westmoreland County Community College yesterday as they hosted a CTC visit day where all local CTC schools were invited to campus for a day of demonstration and workshops.

The WCCC Chef instructors gave demonstrations on sushi making, sugar pulling and sustainability. Our WOLFPACK students received hands on experience during these workshops.

Thank you WCCC for hosting this event! It was fun and interactive for our students!

Students in our AM Sports Medicine class had a lesson on the PRICE method this week. This is the gold standard for immediate first aid for an injured athlete, helping to reduce pain, minimize swelling, and protect the injured area before a professional evaluation.

Here is a breakdown of what these future Athletic Trainers are practicing in the photos below:
• P – Protect: Prevent further injury. Students are learning how to use splints, braces, or crutches to keep the injured area safe from extra stress.
• R – Rest: Stop the activity immediately. Giving the body a break from movement is the vital first step toward recovery.
• I – Ice: Apply cold packs for 15–20 minutes at a time. This narrows the blood vessels to keep swelling down and numb the pain.
• C – Compress: Use an elastic bandage to wrap the injury snugly (but not too tight!). This provides support and keeps fluid from building up.
• E – Elevate: Prop the injured limb up above the heart. Gravity is a great tool to help drain fluid away from the injury and reduce swelling.

This just in from Vet Science...

The AM students in Vet Science tested out different forms of PPE today. Of course, no lab activity is complete without a little hands-on—or should we say paws-on—help! Our favorite four-legged assistant, Clover, joined in on the fun and even tried on some gear to make sure it was up to industry standard.

Who wears it best?

Thanks for the demonstration Clover 💚

Say Cheeseeeeee 😁.....
Our WOLFPACK culinary students are diving headfirst into the delicious world of dairy, uncovering all the secrets behind milk, butter, and cheese. 🐄🥛🐮

Here is a taste of what they have been up to:
✅DIY Dairy: The students got their hands messy making homemade farmer's cheese and fresh butter from scratch.
✅The Ultimate Taste Test: They sampled a mountain of different cheeses and learned how to classify them.
✅Perfect Matches: To wrap it all up, they mastered the art of flavor matchmaking by learning exactly how to pair different foods with their favorite cheeses.
