The Historic Textiles Gallery is closed for the next two weeks, September 21 to October 2, to install our next exhibition: Textiles from the Deep: Findings from the H.L. Hunley Submarine, opening October 3, 2026. In the meantime, enjoy these details of textiles from the exhibition. This show will display archaeological textiles recovered from the Hunley alongside extant historical garments. With a lot of research and a little bit of creative license, we imagine what the submarine crew may have been wearing on the night they changed maritime history.

Sunset on the Stono River

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend an event at the Dill Sanctuary and capture this beautiful sunset over the Stono River. The silhouette of the old tree against the golden sky made the scene even more striking—a peaceful Lowcountry moment worth capturing.
