This week, we had a great training on Truck Operations where we practiced VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, and Search), breaching doors, and roof operations. We were joined by firefighters from Toledo, Savoy, and Humboldt. Thank you to the Charleston Fire Department for allowing us to use their training facility and IFSI instructor Chaney for leading the training.

Congratulations to current LFPD Lieutenant Grant Hale on being named Champaign Fire Department's Firefighter of the Year and to former LFPD Captain Kyle Keefer on being named Engineer of the Year!

In Champaign, dozens of firefighters were honored for their hard work and sacrifice on Wednesday.

As we remember the lives lost and all the first responders who ran towards the danger, several of our firefighters and cadets honored their legacy today during the 9/11 stair climb at the Mattoon YMCA. We will never forget!🇺🇸

Interesting call Sunday night. A couple of 911 calls came in for a large flash and a black object between the 190 & 191. First thing that came to mind of the officers and other first responders was possibly a paraglider in the power lines. At least 8 units in all. Scouted the bike path, roads and miles of interstate and nothing. While searching under the interstate overpass over E Dewitt we found the balloons pictured. They foil balloons had been tangled in the high voltage power lines. Unusual call but glad it wasn’t what we anticipated.

Well the truck is really close to getting to its new home. We do the final inspection Sept 21 and if all goes it will be delivered to the local dealer and then we will pick it up.
