With the start of the 2026-2027 school year here, the Charleston Police Department would like to remind everyone of the speed zones around the Charleston schools as these areas are receiving heavy speed enforcement.

During school hours, East and West Main Street is a 25 MPH zone within the marked School Zone.

During all hours, Crestview Lane, Guy Fenter, and South School Street are 20 MPH Zones.

On South School Street, south of it's intersection with Prince Street, it becomes a 25 MPH zone for the remainder of it's length. North School Street is a 25 MPH Zone for it's totality.

During morning and evening school zones, there are right turns only from south school street onto East Main Street as well as from Guy Fenter onto South School Street.

At all times, no left turns into the Elementary school when traveling southbound on Crestview Lane, avoiding the traffic barriers. No U turns on Crestview Lane for southbound traffic needing to turn around to enter the Elementary school drop off line.

Also, with the extension of the turning lane and merger area east of the school, always be mindful when merging, entering the turning lane, and turning to prevent accidents.

This is Rafal Mikelionis from Lithuania in Europe. Rafal is a University student who works for Southwestern Advantage selling educational materials for all ages from toddles to college. Rafal has acquired a permit with the City of Charleston to solicit business within the City.

This information is being posted for public awareness that Rafal does have an approved solicitation permit with the City of Charleston and made the City of Charleston aware that he will be going door to door.
