TRAINING TODAY. SAFER TOMORROW.
This week, the Charlestown Police Department conducted Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVO) training to help our officers sharpen their driving skills, improve decision-making, and safely respond when our community needs us most.
📚 Training Update: 2,588 Hours and Counting!
So far in 2026, our 27 officers have completed a combined 2,588 hours of training, with more training courses and programs still scheduled throughout the year!
These hours cover a wide range of topics, including:
🔹 Fi****ms training
🔹 Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVO)
🔹 Defensive tactics
🔹 Close-quarters tactics
🔹 Standardized field sobriety testing
🔹 Responding to individuals experiencing mental health crises
🔹 Autism awareness and response
🔹 K9 training
🔹 Bloodborne pathogens
🔹 STOPS training
🔹 And many other important law enforcement topics
Our training includes department-led instruction and courses provided by reputable outside training organizations. Every hour represents an investment in the knowledge, skills, and abilities our officers need to serve our community effectively.
Our officers take training seriously. They consistently seek out additional opportunities to learn, improve, and become better at what they do. We believe that ongoing training is essential to professional policing, officer safety, and the safety of the people we serve. Some of our officers often spend their own time and money to go to training without ever asking for it. We applaud them for always wanting to be better.
A special THANK YOU to Mr. P Express for allowing us to utilize space at their commercial driving school location for our EVO training. We appreciate their willingness to support our department and help us continue preparing our officers for the challenges they face on the road.
At the Charlestown Police Department, training never stops. We are committed to continuous improvement and providing the best possible service to our community.
Your safety is our priority. Our training is part of that commitment.
