UPDATE-

On June 29, 2026, Joseph Fix was arraigned on one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st Degree stemming from an incident involving an individual who rented an apartment from Fix.

On Friday, October 9, 2026, a Preliminary Hearing was held in Eaton County District Court regarding the Jospeh Fix case. The Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st charge was bound over to Circuit Court. The Court also bound over two additional felonies for Criminal Sexual Conduct 2nd Degree. All three charges are being moved to Circuit Court.

The charges are part of a larger investigation around inappropriate behavior by Joseph Fix. The Charlotte Police Department continues to encourage anyone who has information that may be related to this to contact Captain Scott Brooks at 517-543-1552.

The Preliminary Hearing was not a trial and thus Joe Fix continues to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On 06-29-2026, Joseph Fix of Charlotte, was arraigned on one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st degree stemming from an incident involving an individual who rented an apartment from Fix. His bond was set at $100,000 @ 10% cash surety.

Joseph Fix is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

🚨 CHARLOTTE FIRE DEPARTMENT & CHARLOTTE POLICE DEPARTMENT 🚨
Public Information Request — Downtown Charlotte

The Charlotte Fire Department and Charlotte Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance regarding a dumpster fire that occurred in the downtown district on the backside of 229 and 231 S. Cochran Ave.

Based on the information currently available, we believe the fire occurred sometime between approximately 3:00 and 5:00 AM this morning. The fire appears to have burned itself out before it was noticed, but not before causing damage to an adjacent building.

Thankfully, what could have potentially become a much more serious incident was averted.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. At this time, the fire may have been accidental; however, we cannot rule out the possibility of human involvement.

We are asking anyone who may have information about the incident, or anyone who may have doorbell, security, business, or other camera footage from the area between approximately 3:00 and 5:00 AM, to please contact:

If you live or have a business near 229 or 231 S. Cochran Ave. and have camera footage from this morning, please take a look. Even footage that may seem insignificant could provide investigators with valuable information.

Please do not speculate or make accusations. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and any information should be directed to investigators.

There will be brief road closures for the Homecoming Parade tonight.

2026 Homecoming Parade! 🏈🧡🎉
Due to construction our parade route looks different this year, but we'll still have the court, the band, and team, and all the groups that make our parade special! Starting at 5 PM on Friday, we'll head out of the high school lot on W Seminary, turn to State St, and finish going up the high school drive by the CPAC up to the pavilion. Immediately following the parade, the Charlotte Education Foundation is hosting a FREE grill out with hot dogs, chips, and water at the pavilion! We hope to see our Oriole community show up and out before the game at 7!

Today, we remember September 11, 2001, and the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day.

We honor the courage and sacrifice of the police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and other first responders who ran toward danger to protect and save others. Many never returned home, and countless others carried the physical and emotional scars of that day for years to come.

When we promised to Never Forget, that should mean more than just remembering a single day each year. It should be about remembering the commitment first responders make to their communities every day. It should mean supporting those who serve, standing beside them when they need help, and remembering that behind every uniform is a person who has chosen to serve others.

On this anniversary, we remember their service, honor their sacrifice, and keep their families and loved ones in our thoughts.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Frontier Days Traffic Alert-

Frontier Days is upon us and Saturday morning will be busy! This map is the DETOUR route for traffic and NOT the parade route. Traffic will be detoured in both directions on the yellow routes on the map below starting at 09:00 am and will last until the parade is over. Additionally, some streets will be blocked off with DPW vehicles and closed to traffic
Traffic Control starts at 09:00 am.

5K race starts at 09:15 am.

Parade starts at 10:00 am.

There WILL be backups so please plan accordingly and give yourself enough time to get where you need to go.

Retirement Announcement-

Today, we celebrate the retirement of an extraordinary member of our police department family, Mrs. Julie Meyer.

After years of dedicated service, we say thank you to Julie, whose commitment went far beyond the responsibilities listed in any job description. She was the steady hand behind the scenes, the friendly voice on the phone, the organized mind that kept countless moving parts together, and the dependable person everyone knew they could count on.

She consistently did more than was ever asked of her—supporting officers, assisting staff, helping members of the community, and making our department stronger every single day. Her professionalism, kindness, and unwavering work ethic have left a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.

While her daily presence will be greatly missed, we are excited for her as she begins this well-earned new chapter. Thank you for your years of service, your dedication, and the countless ways you made a difference.

Please join us in congratulating Julie on her retirement and wishing her good health, happiness, and many wonderful adventures ahead. Congratulations Julie, and thank you for everything! 💙🚔

Scam Alert-

We have been made aware of a phone scam were someone is calling and stating that they are Sgt. Raymond Ellis of the Charlotte Police Department and telling people that they are due in court today for paperwork that they signed. This impersonator also asked to meet with someone in order to verify their signature as well.

We do not call people the day of a court proceeding to tell them that they are due in court nor do we have a Sgt. Raymond Ellis that works here.

If you receive calls like this, they are very likely a scam. Do not give out any personal information and please report this to us by calling our office at 517-543-1552, calling Eaton County Central Dispatch at 517-541-0767, or by stopping in person at our office.

Training Announcement-

Tomorrow, 06-16-2026, from 6 pm to 9pm, first responders will be conducting some training at the Eaton County Fairgrounds. There will be a large amount of police and fire vehicles but this is only a training exercise.
