It’s crucial now, more than ever, to support and protect our minority and immigrant communities. What we are experiencing across the state right now are not isolated events, nor is North Carolina the last stop of this political tirade. The targeting of black and brown immigrants is not just a racial attack, but a political one.

We are being forced to witness the brutalization of our immigrant and minority communities as CBP leaves behind a trail of terror, panic, and apartheid. Because of these attacks and the administration enabling them, families are afraid to leave their homes for fear they will be next—next to be profiled, chased, or brutalized. This is the result of an act now, ask later operation.

As these vicious and unlawful raids continue in Charlotte and now Raleigh— spreading across our state and our country, we must lean on one another and protect minority communities fearlessly and unapologetically. We must also trust our elected officials to do what is right— and when they don’t, we must hold them accountable.

From Murphy to Manteo, documented or not, we stand firm in our belief that every North Carolinian deserves safety, dignity, and peace of mind.

Ahora, más que nunca, es importante apoyar y proteger a nuestras comunidades minoritarias e inmigrantes. Lo que estamos viviendo en nuestro estado en este momento no son hechos aislados, ni Carolina del Norte es la última parada de esta diatriba política. Los ataques contra los inmigrantes no son solo ataques raciales, sino también políticos.

Nos vemos obligados a presenciar la brutalización de nuestras comunidades inmigrantes y minoritarias, mientras que CBP deja tras un rastro de terror y pánico. También debemos confiar en que nuestros representantes electos hagan lo correcto y, cuando no lo hagan, exigirles responsabilidades.

Last Friday, the NCDP Hispanic Caucus came together to celebrate community, culture, and leadership at our annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. ✨✨

We were honored to hear from Justice Anita Earls, Former Representative Ricky Hurtado, Councilmember-Elect JD Mazuera Arias, Antonio Arellano, and NCDP Hispanic Caucus Chair Adrian Maldonado Jr., with remarks from Anna Rios.

The evening also included special recognitions honoring Matty Lazo Chadderton, NCDP Hispanic Caucus First Vice Chair Nicole Aguero, Anna Rios, and Mayor Guillermo Antonio Nurse of Oxford, NC.

Last Thursday, the NCDP Hispanic Caucus and North Carolina Jewish Democrats came together for an inspiring event honoring Gabe Esparza, a trailblazer who embodies the strength and unity of both the Latino and Jewish communities.

We heard from speakers, including Lisa Jewel, Adrian Maldonado, Judge Alyssa Levine, and JD Arias. Gabe shared his story, reflecting on the values that connect our communities and the importance of representation in leadership.

We were able to celebrate Gabe’s deep commitment to service. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this meaningful night! Together, we’re building bridges and uplifting diverse voices in North Carolina. 💙
