In partnership with IlluminateUNCC, our 5th-grade scholars enjoyed their first mentoring session! Today was all about introductions, getting to know one another, building connections, and setting expectations for an exciting journey ahead.

Through mentorship, encouragement, and positive role models, we are empowering our young men to lead with confidence, character, and purpose.

❤️🤍 Strong Men Build Strong Futures! 🤍❤️

Today, Governors’ Village STEM Academy proudly launched our Boys Mentoring Program in partnership with the outstanding Rupert Lartey of the Zeta Delta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at UNC Charlotte!

Our scholars had the opportunity to connect with a positive male role model who is committed to inspiring excellence, building character, and encouraging leadership.

Through mentorship, brotherhood, and meaningful relationships, we are planting seeds of greatness in our young men! 💪🏾

A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Lartey and the gentlemen of Zeta Delta for showing our boys that greatness begins with believing in yourself and having someone who believes in you!

💗✨ Empowering Girls, Inspiring Leaders! ✨💗

G.I.R.L. Code, Girls Igniting Real Leaders! 👑

“Unlocking Her Potential, One Girl at a Time!”

A powerful journey began at Governors’ Village STEM Academy with the launch of our first G.I.R.L. Code Workshop, created in partnership with IlluminateUNCC! 💕🌟

Eleven remarkable young ladies gathered for an experience designed to help them discover their voices, strengthen their confidence, and develop the leadership skills they need to shape their futures. From the very first session, students began building connections, sharing introductions, learning about one another, and creating a foundation of trust and belonging.

Guiding them along the way were inspiring mentors from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at UNC Charlotte, who brought encouragement, wisdom, and a powerful example of what is possible. Through meaningful conversations and authentic relationships, these mentors are helping students see themselves as capable, confident leaders.

G.I.R.L. Code is more than a Workshop, it is the beginning of a lasting sisterhood and a supportive community where girls can grow, lead, and recognize their limitless potential. 💚💗

As the program continues, these young scholars will gain the confidence to pursue new opportunities, overcome challenges, and make a positive impact in their schools, communities, and beyond.

We cannot wait to see how their voices grow, how their leadership develops, and how the future is transformed by the leaders they are becoming!

Because when we empower a girl, we inspire a future leader. 👑✨

GVSA is incredibly grateful for the meaningful partnership of the Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. at UNC Charlotte! 💜💛

Our Omegas made a powerful impact by supporting Kindergarten scholars in small groups and sharing the joy of literacy with our Pre-K scholars. Each brother was assigned to a classroom, where they read engaging storybooks and created special moments of learning, laughter, and connection.

What a wonderful day of brotherhood, service, and literacy at GVSA with the Omegas! Thank you for pouring into our youngest scholars and helping them see the joy in reading. 📚✨

Today, our Hendricks readers had the wonderful opportunity to welcome local author Erika Ferrari Lopez! A Charlotte resident, Erika grew up in northern Virginia as the daughter of two Latin American immigrants and spent her summers running through coffee fields in Guatemala.

Inspired by her childhood experiences, she began writing memoirs and essays in 2017. In 2021, a dream became a bedtime story for her daughter, and later blossomed into her first children’s book, The Adventures of Amazing Grace, a heartwarming story of family, flying, magic, and friendship.

We are grateful for the opportunity to hear her inspiring journey and celebrate the power of reading, writing, and imagination! 📚✨
